Got the cam when I purchased the H2 , now I don't know how to take off my spare because of the wiring from the cam prevents me from taking off the plate holder or whatever you call it.
Help.

If the dealer did the install, I imagine you have a case for insisting they do the fix.

You (or they) will need to cut the cam wiring a foot or so from the camera and then insert male/female plugs like the ones that are currently at the end of the camera wire. (Follow the existing wire through the bumper and within a few feet you should see the plugs.)

Once you've done that, you'll swing your tire open, unplug the camera and then remove the license holder.

If you have enough slack in the existing wires, you should be able to reuse the existing female plug without reinstalling it. If not, plug sets are only a few bucks at Radio Shack and so long as you can solder, install is a breeze.

Hold da phone ...

I have an SUT. Not sure if on the full body truck the wires go through the bumper.

Either way, to fix the problem you'll need to install plugs near the back of the license/cam as described above.

Thanks guys, that's what I figured. I just knew it was going to be a big hassle.

It's really pretty easy to install the new plugs. If you want to try let me know. I did mine and can easily enough send pictures and tips your way.

And by the way, did they position your camera so it's at the top or the bottom of your license plate?

You got it. Give me a few days and I'll post it on a web page and put a link to it here. I have no objection to email but if I'm going to put the info together, might as well have it where others can see it, too.

FWIW, I tried putting the camera on top and it completely blocked the license plate light. You might want to look at yours and see if that's the case and if it is, I imagine your local law enforcement will eventually take note. Mounting the camera on the bottom takes a little extra effort but for the peace of mind, IMO it's worth it.
