Delta Back Up Lights
I bought a pair of the Delta back up lights and decided to wire them to a switch instead of the backup lights in the taillights. Everything is wired, but I keep blowing fuses. Has anyone done this before and can help me figure out how I can get this to work? The kit came with a 20 fuse. I have a feeling it has something to do with the switch. I've been using a 25 and 30 / 12V switch and blowing 25 and 30 fuses. I ran a wire from the delta lights wire that is suppose to wire into the taillights to the switch, and running all the power wires to the battery. I'm going to go buy a 20 switch and more fuses to see if that might do the trick. Help me. Thanks

Re: Delta Back Up Lights
Hi number 86 can go to the back up lights if you want them to come on in reverse or a switch like you want. If its blowing fuses check your wiring and also if a wire is shorted somewhere. #85 and #86 can be 18 to 24 gauge wire but #87 and #30 must be 18 or 14 gauge wire depends on how many amps your lights are.

Re: Delta Back Up Lights
Thanks, I'll go wire it up and see what happens. My current set up is similar, except I have the switch wired to the battery.

Re: Delta Back Up Lights
Hi no problem. Having the switch wired to the battery will not blow the fuse unless it grounding on something. It will keep the lights on when the truck is shut off unless you flip the swith off. The switch and the relay #30 should be fused.

Re: Delta Back Up Lights
Thanks for all your help. I'm starting to think the relay is bad. I'm going to meter the wires an see if something is grounding out.

Re: Delta Back Up Lights
Hi does it blow the fuse as so as you turn the lights on? If so something is shorted to ground. Relays do not normally short to ground and blow fuses because the load side and the control side are separate but it is possible if its melted inside.
