Would be nice so you can be locked and run through loose stuff w/ some speed.

That would be like a spool in a rear diff on a race car. The reason that doesn't work because as you make a turn, the outside tire would have to spin faster to keep up with the rotational speed of the inside tire....

And with it locked, it wouldn't, it would get dragged around the corner.

Right. Im saying I would like to have the rear locked on loose soil (no chirping tires on turns) so you could do lets say a long steep hill climb (straight up) at say 15 mph. From the factory it only allows you to engage the locker when in 4LO.

That locker makes some funny noises when you go too fast...

If you're going 15 up a long steep hill, I doubt you'd need the locker.

And you want to explode your rear end why? You want to make an oily Rorschach ink blot on the ground?

It makes for a nice excuse to not have to run Golden Spike.

Thanks guys, no dont want to grenade the rear end! Just want to make it up hills after it has rained a day or so.

Phil, this and the other post about TCS has clarified the issue. I think that "torque limiting" that instructor brought up over there is a major factor as well as TCS. Now I know how to "override" both. I'm just not used to having so much computer intervention while wheeling! I do like the TCS most of the time though.

I imagine the tourque limiting was put there to keep the rear from exploding when locked.
