Saw H3T yesterday, your thoughts?
I would have bought it on the spot, but it has the I5 and cloth and was in black, a color I prefer to avoid. Those who dont know me, I have not been around in a long time, I had an H3 early on, got rid of it and am driving an off road blue 07 H2 since march of 07. I need a pickup truck now and dont really drive my H2 much and the H2truck is frankly borderline useless. Hence my interest in a H3T since I love a good Hummer.
The H3T is better looking in person and your first thought. Frankly, it almost looks more H1 like then any other Hummer I have seen, reminding me of a H1 mainly due to the bed in back having similar shape to the old H1. The H2, even with the small truck version does not have the same proportion. I like the tail bed accessories and features, it was well thought out to be super functional. Frankly, the pockets are great and available accessories awesome and this makes the truck worth building. A trailer hitch with a step is almost immediately required, its a good step up to the bed. The longer wheelbase makes for a more comfortable ride that is noticeable to any H3 owner. The interior looks like I remember it, so I will leave that alone, although I forgot to check if the center console has more room.
My dealer is pricing me an H3T Alpha, so being out of the loop (over 2 years on an H3) heres a few questions for you regulars if you could update me on where were at with these things...
Have you seen the H3T yet and what were your impressions?
I thought the 6 cylinder was going to be standard on the H3?
Hows the 8 cylinder work on the H3?
How come a backup camera is not standard yet?
Any word on a more roomy center console, always hated that?
I think thats all, thanks in advance for your comments.

Re: Saw H3T yesterday, your thoughts?
I saw a few at the dealer by me Wed. Its an awsome looking misize truck but the price isnt right. Considering what features you get for the $$ in a Alpha you can get a Silverado/Sierra with more gadgets and stuff with the same motor and better mpg. The H3T you are paying for the hummer brand name and off road ability. If you off road alot I'd get the H3T but id not just get a regular pick up. For the money an H3T alpha goes for you can get a loaded fullsize truck.
I really like the H3T but the price is about $5k too much accross the model lineup

Re: Saw H3T yesterday, your thoughts?
a lot of people dont know that the H3T can come in an Alpha with cloth, which highly reduces the cost of getting the V-8, i went in to get an H3 Alpha priced with the Cloth but they informed me only the H3T is available for '09 with a cloth interior and the V-8 engine its the "Alpha Cloth" is the package for it. So you may want to get it priced that way it will turn out considerably less expensive.

Re: Saw H3T yesterday, your thoughts?
Good info, have not heard back from him yet, he knows I might not pull the trigger to spring. Awesome video, BTW, had my H2 with water over the door line in spring to launch my jet skis, would not want to have been in any other vehicle at that moment.

Re: Saw H3T yesterday, your thoughts?
You can build an H3T on the website now. The cloth H3T is only $3k less and with the off road package and just a couple options it sover $40k. Its actually the same price (approx 45k) as a loaded silverado or sierra 1/2 ton. And the Sierra/Silverado come with more features and gadgets.

Re: Saw H3T yesterday, your thoughts?
thanks for the comment on the video! and chisox, doesnt sound like your a hummer person at all...the H3T is a crazy truck so much stuff can be done do it and the offroad capability on it is unsurpassable by any other truck. Its the only vehicle in its class that comes with a front AND rear locker on it. The alpha with the cloth gives you all the same options as the normal alpha but with the cloth, plus you still get the leather headrests and the leather wrapped stearing wheel. And 3 grand is a lot of money to save, thats either 3 thousand more dollars in your pocket or 3 thousand more dollars of more useful options, and truthfully i have cloth in my H3 and i find it ten times more comfortable than my friends H3 and he has the leather. And at the end of the day the sierra or silverado are still not Hummers.

I have looked at a couple and really see this as a practical vehicle. It rides better than the H3 IMO, but that I think is due to the longer wheelbase. But, for off roading, you will have some breakover issues here and there. The bed ont his truck has some nice possibilities and the comparments will be great to store recovery gear and some tools, tiedowns, etc. Overall, I like it.
No 6cyl yet.
The V8 is worth the extra money in my mind...I have na Alpha now and there is a hug difference bewtween the I5 and the V8....not much difference in fuel economy either.
back up cam is an option and I would order it if price is not a concern. it does come in handy for those blindspots, the H3t has a couple more than the SUV due to the bed and rear pillar.
The center council is all you get though.
Othere have mentioned to order cloth. If you do, keep in mind you do not get power seats, heated seats.
The new Adventrue package will get you front and rear lockers also.
I can;t wait to see one with the t bars cranked up and 35 MT's on it.

Re: Saw H3T yesterday, your thoughts?
timgco, have to correct you with your statement, well partially correct you, all the h3's now no matter what configuration have a powered front drivers seat, the passanger is still not power, but the driver is.

Re: Saw H3T yesterday, your thoughts?
SDH3, thanks for the article! I was looking at getting a 2009 Alpha but forget that idea, im gonna wait till 2010 and take that 3.6 litre V-6 with the 6-speed, ive been wating for a bigger tranny! If that diesel thing is happening i might take that, but the 09 is out of the question now for me

Re: Saw H3T yesterday, your thoughts?
Man, such a tease!
I read MajorGeeks' entry, and realized our dealer finally got the H3T in! (We live in the same area). Perfect. Go to the dealer last night...no truck. It was in last Wed., and gone Monday. Sold.

Re: Saw H3T yesterday, your thoughts?
Had my H3 in for service today at Sewell Hummer and was given a new (194 miles) H3T to drive. It was the base model and was really nice. The road feel was better than my 06 Adventure, but the extra length was sure present.
The service at Sewell was great and prompt. I recommend them for service to Hummer drivers in Dallas.

Re: Saw H3T yesterday, your thoughts?
I went by Team Hummer in Pasadena.
They had an H3T by the showroom and service entrance but it was barely visible from the street. No balloons or signs on it or parked sideways (so you can see it?s a truck) so it could be seen it from the street.
I walked in the show room and no one was there or offered assistance. No sales people or service people asked if I had any questions on the H3T or wanted a test drive. Really amazing?
I sat in it and checked out the rear seat, tail gate and cargo bed very nice.
I was impressed.

Car sales are down, and I had the same experience at the Thousand Oaks dealership when I stopped by after work. It was deserted.

Re: Saw H3T yesterday, your thoughts?
I got and H3T as a loaner when I took my H3 in last week. I drove it for 2 days and it's really nice. I had the I5 fully loaded. It was longer than my H3 and drove just about the same. Good get up and go on the I5 and seemed to it a littler higher than my H3 before I put the leveling kit on it. I'm very happy with my H3 stll but would seriously consider the H3T if I was in the market.
It is a good time to buy right now with all the incentives. You could probably get the truck for aroun invoice - $5000.
