HD 2006 H1 adventure package?
1) Gas millage. (don't care)
2) More torque. (breaking half shafts now)
3) Heavy duty trans. (trans seem to be ok now.)
4) speed - faster. (I don't think the design of drivetrain will let it go faster, but not sure.)
5) Heavier. ( Duramax 300lbs more)
6) Go more places. (I don't think so)
7) Last longer (maybe not, Who wants a 25 year old truck?)
7) Little Duramax sign on the side of the hummer. (a lot of money for that sign)
8) More colors (at $100k color won't sell more H1s.
9) I own an H2 (No Bling, all Hummer) Thanks for putting up with me!

Since the D/A is part of the HD option, maybe heavier driveline which should be a good help.

Are guy's running full lockers F&R still breaking halfshaft?

Honestly,

I think it's just the name and maybe a bit more power/get up an go.

I'll bet you won't have one unused millimeter inside the engine compartment with that motor.

The duramax has a ton more power then the 6.5, the people who want the D-max in the H1 want it primarily for on road driving. From what I have heard the H1 needs a two inch body lift to accomodate the Duramax.
The Allison is a VERY heavy duty trans with the proper computer upgrades it can handle 800 ft.lbs without having to rebuild it. The fifth gear is also a nice feature.
Its a dry heat if your breaking lots of halfshafts you should look into doing the 12K axle upgrades which can be seen on Scot Smiths website (www.southernaxle.com) you will probably never break another halfshaft again.

I aslo am hearing from guys that work for Allison that a sixth gear (more OD) is in the works too.
So run super low axle gears and still cruise along at 75mph @1500rpm.

Now you just hit it! Overdrive 1500 rpm and 75 mph. Myself I don't mind gas prices, just stopping for gas a little more offen then I'm use to. MPH comes in WHEN off roading. GAS CANS ARE A PAIN!

This is general misconception that your engine will run better with higher octane gas. That is not true...for gas from gas pumps.

In order to increase the octane in gas we all buy from the gas station, ingredients are added to increase the octane. Those ingredients do not burn as efficiently, as normal 87 octane gas.

Now, if you're buying 113 Octane race fuel, or 120+ octane aircraft fuel, that's a whole different ball game. But of course, most people don't buy 55 gallon drums of 113 Octane race fuel at $4.60 per gallon.

The ONLY reason to buy high octane gasoline, is if you have a problem with knock/pinging (gas igniting slight before/after the optimal fire point). The higher octane and the less explosive ingredients are more stable and thus fire at the appropriate time.

If you don't have knock/pinging issues and you're buying high octane gas, you might as well flush the difference in the toilet.

If you're breaking half shafts, a slightly modified technique when off-roading may help.

Use BTM, dragging the brake anytime there's a chance a tire may spin or come off the ground in a non-traction situation, and "finesse" seem to make the difference.
