Stripped bolt on transfer case ...
Still in an H3 loaner for 11 days already. The dealer service manager said I had a leak in the front drive shaft. They were waiting on a part last week. Today they said the technician accidently stripped a bolt in the transfer case and now they are waiting for a bolt from GM. I really shouldn't be worrying about this, should I?

The fact they admitted technician failure speaks volumes, could have kept it quiet but they are being honest with you

Re: Stripped bolt on transfer case ...
dont worry but ask them to mark it red or yellow so it is ID'ed as separate from the others. For future reference...

Re: Stripped bolt on transfer case ...
At least the found out about it before sending you home and you discovering it later on.
Where was the leak, on the T-case or diff end of the driveshaft?
It sucks that you had to wait for 11 days for a simple fix and more just for a bolt but I guess dealers don't stock many parts these days.
At least you have an as a H3 loaner.

I don't know where the actual leak was located. I had been smelling a burning smell for awhile .. guess it was the fluid burning off. I think it's interesting that the first dealer (closer to my home) didn't see a leak when I had taken it in for something else. We're playing phone tag with the Serv. Mgr at the 2nd dealer where he just told me to hold onto the loaner til the part comes in. Haven't been given a timeline. 13 days today. I'm hoping they didn't accidently have another Hummer back into mine and they are just not telling me. The service area is way too small for the H2/H3's. I had the concern when I dropped mine off as I watched a tech backing an H2 into a service bay missing mine by 1/2 inch until I yelled to stop. I live a distance from this dealer and can't do a drive by to check. ( )
