Maximum Shackle without mods
Looking to get a little lift in the rear of my 06 H3. Whats the limit on shackle lift without getting into extras??

Re: Maximum Shackle without mods
I have shackles and add-a-leaf. I had to fabricate a 2.5 inch stand-off for the bracket that holds the brake lines where they (2) come down and meet the hard lines that run to each end of the axle. I adjusted my JKS sway bar ends to be longer, and adjusted the anti-lock lines in the wheel wells so they wouldn't pull when fully flexed.

Re: Maximum Shackle without mods
So, for the time being I used a 3 inch stainless bolt, stainless sleeve, and a couple stainless washers to move the brake lines up. I have a piece of steel stock to fab a replacement bracket. But now I'm trying to see if I can order 2 stainless lines that are 3 inches longer than the stainless lines you (kinda) see on there. Trail Duty is supposed to be coming out with some different shock mounts that raise the bottom of the shock out of harms way... thinking about trying them before I decide to ditch Fox shocks. I know it's kind of "rigged" so flame away!!

The upcoming Trail Duty Shock Plates will raise the lower part of the shock by 1.5" to work with stock length shocks with or without extended shackles

Re: Maximum Shackle without mods
When you all raise the rear with shackles, do you raise the front end even more to keep it all level?
If so, isn't that angle bad for your CV joints?

Re: Maximum Shackle without mods
I have the Samco shackles on mine, no modifications. I do want the Trail Duty shock plates to go with my Fox shocks. Just waiting for them to come out.
I added the SAW torsion bars also, so I lifted the front a couple inches and the rear 3/4" or so and the front and rear are now even. I guess the cv andgle isn't bad enough yet. Several people have added the t-bars.

Re: Maximum Shackle without mods
Any idea of when the shock plates will be ready to go?? Those and the BulletProof Tie Rods are up next.
I cranked up the front to 24.25 inches when I installed the SAW torsion bars. The rear still looked like it had a bit of a Tennessee rake. Here is a picture from a few months ago. Looks different now... black mirrors, black door handles, black fuel door, no badges, I put the flares on too... chrome brush guard is off and I'm running American Racing Chamber Teflon wheels 16x8.... DOI winch mount and winch are coming. Will post up in a few days with new pics when I get around to taking some new photos...
I am still shopping for 2 longer stainless brake lines for above the axle and ditching the spacer.

Re: Maximum Shackle without mods
Not yet, but I'll be under there tomorrow morning to tighten a maddening rattle I have. I'll snap some then.
What kind of info would you like?

Re: Maximum Shackle without mods
Shock Plates will be ready in just a couple more weeks. First beta sample will be complete this week and then the production sets will be fabbed. They are going to be really nice, as they will be milled from a solid piece of block steel with no anticipated welds. They will be low-profile with ramped front & rear edges and shock protection.
New low profile sleeved nuts with incorporated sleeves will be used to replace the tall OEM nuts and will allow user to cut/grind off part of U-bolts flush with spacer to allow for maximum ground clearance. The sleeved-nuts will be included and will flush mount up inside the plates for max protection. Nut protection is a good thing

Re: Maximum Shackle without mods
Looking into www.Warriorproducts.com Sewie mentioned them in another thread and they look rock solid. Possibly bullet proof for this thread application. Will post and add pics when done...

Re: Maximum Shackle without mods
The Fox shocks are great. Keep in mind that they are "stock" length.
http://bulletproofsteering.com/
"We custom make them to each vehicle due to all the variables from H3 to H3. Price is $750 for both tierods and all connecting hardware made for your vehicle. You need to take some measurements so we can fabricate them to your specific system."
Hope this helps.
