Windshield weatherstrip coming off
Yesterday I was on the interstate and it was pouring hard, when I got home I noticed the rubber strip on the top edge of the windshield was open a little and the little foam piece was hanging out. So, I mentioned it at the dealership today while getting my oil changed. It's not leaking water or anything, yet.
They said the entire windshield will likely need to be replaced, but I can't believe that would be the case. Since my windshield is tinted and has the serial thing on it already and it won't get replaced with a factory windshield...I don't want that.
Anyone else have this problem? You padders made it too hard to search, so I gave up. What's the real fix?
On a side note, they won't give me a loaner because I'm not old enough! I'm getting screwed on my warranty!! I can rent a ferrari with a $10k pre-auth on my cc, but can't rent an h3 with an h3 of greater value as collateral, that's messed up!

Re: Windshield weatherstrip coming off
I got caught on I-4 in that storm yesterday too. Damn it was coming down hard
That really sucks that they want to replace the windshield and a bunch of BS about the loaner

Re: Windshield weatherstrip coming off
Yeah it was fun. Right before I left the dealership though, they said the windshield will not be factory but the strip will be...so I'm not sure why a new windshield would be needed.

same thing here, but they wont loan me anything, doesnt matter what the value is. So i try to screw with them and make them drive me home, about 30 miles away, one way.
Once the manager let me take one of their test drive h3s, but thats because he didnt know how old i was, it was kinda an emergency. He probly wont give it to me again if he found out how old i was.
Its really anoying, i payed for this car and its my warranty and they wont give me the same warranty rights as everyone else, they shouldnt have sold me the truck. Didnt have a problem with my age when i was signing papers!

Re: Windshield weatherstrip coming off
They didn't even offer me a ride home, I'm about 80 miles away from the dealership, they said I'd have to be within 10 miles. Anyways, whatever needs to be fixed.. I hope it's quick or else I'll be camping in an H1 on their show floor overnight, drooling all over it.

Re: Windshield weatherstrip coming off
Chances are they will have to have the windshield removed. They cut the urethane with a power tool, so chances are during removal it will crack. However, there is a chance it won't and I would assume they would use same windshield.
Strange that the Hummer dealer's insurance did not cover a loaner. I thought the minimum age was 21 at most dealers.

Re: Windshield weatherstrip coming off
i believe your warranty from hummer has that loaner clause in it right? If you're over 18 you are legally able to get that loaner. I'm 24 and I've gotten loaners from Saturn and hummer. Tell them if they won't give you a loaner you'll contact your lawyer and a few local newspapers, local news channels, etc to express what you think about their business practices. That's entirely wrong of them to tell you that they can"t give you a loaner!

Re: Windshield weatherstrip coming off
That seems like an awful lot, it looks like it could just be put back on with some adhesive, as it's hardly coming off. But everyone's saying it's the windshield, so I guess that's it.
I'm mostly worried about having to have the windshield re-sealed, not much good can come from that, at least the first time I had my windshield replaced in my last car...leaks and noise. Maybe the tint will help keep it from cracking, not sure.
The dealer was going to cover the loaner, I got the paper to take over to enterprise, then they asked my age and took it away! It is 21, I still have 7 months to go ...but I figured they'd cut me some slack seeing as I'm leaving my truck there....

Re: Windshield weatherstrip coming off
simply demand a loaner from the dealership. A used car sitting on the lot. You're the customer. Taking care of you is their job, not leaving you high and dry.

Re: Windshield weatherstrip coming off
Yeah I'll try. I'm not sure if I'll need it now, since I guess they were going to keep my truck overnight while they waited on parts to come in. Anyways, they really have no choice if they need to keep my truck for awhile but to give me a loaner as I have no way to leave, and I'm not gonna be given a ride home to be stranded 80 miles away from my vehicle. I doubt they'd like to have to come pick me up too..

Re: Windshield weatherstrip coming off
yea enterprise is the problem. they said 21? they told me 25! maybe its different in different states?
the sales person said they be happy to give me one of their lot h3s, when i turn 21!
when i really really need a car, i get by dad to take it off the lot and then i drive it. Otherwise i goota take public transport. Not a good transition from Hummer to public transportation!
i gotta read through the warranty though and see exactly whats what.
Oh does anyone know where i can get a coppy of the full warranty, that little booklet isnt it right?
By the way i am so sorry for posting this crap that is completely irelevant to the thread, but i hope things work out well with the windshield and you get to keep it!

Just lock yourself in that little tank (forget what it is called) at the front of the showroom, they could never get you out if you didn't want to

Tell them to give you one of the couple of H2s they use to run customers across the lot to the Enterprise office.

PT! Never! I'd call up a limo or town car service before suffering that indignity.
I think Enterprise needs to adapt to the dealership loaner program, it's only a few bucks more and maybe a credit card hold at the airport to rent a car being under 21. They are within a few feet of my truck, like I'm not going to bring it back? Plus, it's insured. Oh well...

Re: Windshield weatherstrip coming off
I agree!
It's the weatherstrip at the roof of my truck, where it's coming up. I'm not sure why it looks all powdery, but I didn't want to take another picture.
