It seems like they keep taking away everything from the Lux pkg lately. Homelink visors, cross bows (I can't believe they charge you for these).
I hate to say this, but it sounds like we're going to pay about 3k for leather or partially leather seats and a different radio system.
Is there anything else included in the Lux pkg to make it Luxury? I doubt leather seats would cost them all that much to put in. I spent about $350 on 2 100% real leather seat covers for my 78 Corvette. Granted I had to install them myself which was a P.I.T.A., and that you have to factor in the second row to the price, but what would that cost? I'm guessing that it would be about 1k-2k max for all the seats installed in the H3.
Here is my idea of what I think a Luxury Package should include for the H3:
1. Leather Seats
2. Homelink Visor
3. Backup sensors
4. Side steps (either chrome or black)
5. Automatic Transmission (with the option of having a manual if desired)
6. Monsoon Audio w/ XM included
7. Roof crossbows
8. Floor mats for all areas including cargo area.
Anyone agree that this would differentiate the Lux from Base? Maybe they raise the difference from 3k to 5k, but find a way to differentiate them

Agreed. That would be an apropriate Lux-Pkg. One thing to add though: MP3 compatibility for the in-dash CD changer. Why have either a CD changer _or_ MP3? Doesn't make sense to me...

I believe that heated front seats with 8-way power adjustment, front and rear floor mats, and a leather wrapped steering wheel are also part of the deal...unless the have 86'd any of these too!

I think they are too, but do you still consider floor mats and power seats Luxury? They should be standard with anything these days. The heated seats may be a luxury item.
Has anyone had a seat cooler? In my rental car this week, the Caddy has seat coolers, which are pretty neat and keep the leather cool. Now that would be a cool option to add

I agree as well. I think the black crossbows and side steps should be standard on the Lux with the option of adding the chrome ones with the addition of the chrome appearance package. As far at the cost of the leather, I would be shocked if it cost 1K-2K for the factory since they are buying the leather in bulk and for the most part, I wouldn't think the cost of assembly would go up much if any since they would have to be covered either with cloth or leather anyway. The heated seats is an expense but I really would rather have that as an option. I can't imagine living in Florida that I am going to use that feature more than a couple of times a year if at all but I still have to pay for it if I want leather. I do understand though that the vehicle would cost a lot more if they offered it completely alacart.

That is a great option that I would love to have. I look at an expedition last year that had that feature and a friends Saab or Audi, can't remember which, has it. I think it would be a big seller.

$400.00 for the cross bows is insane. Fortunately my lux. package did come with homelink.

The front/rear carpeted floor mats are still part of the "Luxury Pkg" but now the carpeted rear cargo mat (which used to be included in the pkg) is an additional $70.00.
