Ron Carter Hummer in Houston
My wife's truck dealer rocks...last week my family, along with many others were invited to attend a casual dinner at the dealership. It was more of a dealer introduction to new Cadillac, Hummer & Saab owners.
Light dinner (excellent BTW), introductions of department heads within the dealership, leather care products, fluid experts, an air bag deployment / live demonstration, 20 or so drawings for gift certificates at some of the local dining spots in the area & two lucky stiffs received their vehicle note paid for the month via "the dealership"...Big up to Ron Carter Hummer

Auggie and the RC group are great people. They always sponsor the National Hummer Club events in Texas as well as their own club functions! Texas Gulf Coast Hummer Owner Group or TGCHOG is the name of Auggie's Club. It is a very active group with a lot of involvement all over the state. Have fun

Re: Ron Carter Hummer in Houston
I'll have to eat crow on my earlier statement.
Ron Carter Hummer in Houston, TX ain't cool at all
I took my lifted '05 SUT in for service; leaking via the transfer case, 3" drop in my lift (which they didn't install), dented & bent cross member & spa treatment.
I left town for four weeks & return to a $2,800.00 repair bill
I received a telephone call from the service manager & the sales manager both explaining to me that they will need to replace the following items;
Pitman arms
Idler arms
Torsion bars
FabTech tie rods
Cross member (which I took it in to replace anyway)
I stopped them at this point & explained to both of them I wanted to know what caused this before we go any further. I instruct both of them to contact me once they find the culprit. Two weeks later my wife receives a telephone call saying the truck is ready WTF She in turn calls me & proceeds to explain that Ron Carter had already completed the repairs to the tune of $2,800.00 out of my pocket
Now, I'm not an auto mechanic. However, I am a machinist & mechanically inclined. WTF good is a 75,000 mile warranty, on a truck that has been off-road four times. The lift has been installed since May...the truck only has 8,000 miles on it
The sales manager had already informed my wife that the bent cross member couldn't have been the culprit...his was bent worse than mine. Then they where trying to say that I had the recalled FabTech pitman arms...NOT, the lift was put on after the recall & those parts were not available.
I went ahead and paid the bill...out of my better judgement
Anyone else on here ever experience this...should I contact hummer direct...publish my story on the internet...say bad things about Ron Carter Hummer...
Give me some suggestion please

That would be a big oops on their part.
Ok, besides the fact that they went ahead and did the work first, replaced the Fabtechs, which were likely not worn, didn't fix the transfer case leak, didn't determine a cause.....
Can you itemize the costs.... cuz that just seems a bit over the top, on top of everything else.
Did you get your old parts back so you can determine your own failure analysis?

Re: Ron Carter Hummer in Houston
The invoice is at the house, I'll detail it later.
Break down;
Labor = 1,500 +
Parts = 1,200 +
I retreive the torsion bars, so I can NDE them & send them out to a metalurgist here locally. I am going to request the other parts as well now that you mention it. I suspect it was either the factory pitman or idler arms that failed...
The only part that would cause my lift to sag is the torsion bars, everything else part wise had to do with steering.

I'm betting that the torsion bars where installed and weren't pre-loaded before the adjustment bolts were tightened up on the cams.

I could agree with that had I not witnessed it...and the truck's ride height increased to boot.

Re: Ron Carter Hummer in Houston
At the rate parts are currently going...I may just go back to stock and let the 75,000 mile warranty play out.
Then mod it back out with the money I save.

Went to buy a new H2 from RC. They seemed to beleive the truck was worth 8K more than Ken Bachelor did...To San Antonio I went.

Re: Ron Carter Hummer in Houston
I go only go there Oil changes...but if you local guys know somewhere better, please tell.
But, I do have to say that "Auggie" is bit of an Ass....dealt with him a few years ago, when my parents where going to buy a H1. His attitude and manners where so childress and pissed my parents off.
As for Ron Carter .......I was going to buy a 05 from them....but found a 04 for the same price, same miles, same color......but they would not move on the 05 price tag.
Oh well.......

Re: Ron Carter Hummer in Houston
Had a great experience with Auggie and RC. Knew what I wanted and didn't want to waste my time driving around town to haggle prices. Auggie qouted me an excellent price via email before I went to the dealership. Shopped around and no one could touch it. Will definately do business there again.
