My o5' had it mounted on the inside, which makes opening up the rear liftgate easy and fast to load items. My o8' has it mounted outside on the back, so it's a pain to open the tire carrier and swing it out of the way and make sure it does not scratch the liftgate when doing so. I was going to take it off, but i think it really kinda goes with the whole off road image of the vehicle, so i decided for now to leave it on. (my wife actually convinced me of this) It's uncovered just how it came from the factory. I like this look instead of a covered tire.
