RV Trailer pulling
Anybody have much experience using a H@ to pull a trailer? I am specifically thinking pulling an RV. It is either a Diesel or an 08 H2. Gas is coming down and my truck does not get but 12. So what's the difference. Not enough to drive a truck over a Bad ass H2. And I do not want a diesel if I can help it. So I need an H2 to pull an RV but I am curious to see what size is comfortable for the H2.

Re: RV Trailer pulling
I pull my 20' boat weighing 4800lbs with no problems, slows down a little on the hills, but the supercharger should take care of that

Re: RV Trailer pulling
I tow an RV that weighs over 6500 and it tows fine. I had to get a custom hitch shank made to clear my spare 37" tire. Be sure to get a trailer brake controller. I don't think "Weight Distrubution hitches" work very well on GM vehicles (they dont really need them) as they have IFS with the front suspension resting on jounce jumpers. If you plan on towing the RV alot, plan on getting a real heavy RV, or tow long distances - I would opt for the Rear Air Suspension Option. Otherwise, just go with the rear coil springs.
PS...dont mind the bananna as my 6yo likes to add them while I am typing...LOL

Re: RV Trailer pulling
I have towed my Z06 a couple of times back and forth to the track (about 250 mile round trip) on a trailer that I borrow from a friend, its a very heavy duty equipment trailer for hauling loaders/machinery, the trailer weighs approximately 3,000-3500 lbs and my car weighs in at just shy of 3100lbs..... tows it very easily with no issues.

Re: RV Trailer pulling
I have been doing alot of research on pulling a trailer with my h2 and I finally opted to buy a truck with a sufficient tow rating and leave the h2 at home. For those guys who tow above the limit below is an example of the possible risk you are taking if anything bad happens while towing a heavy trailer.

Re: RV Trailer pulling
bump on this thread...
anyone pulling a toy hauler with their h2?
Any known issues from the truck itself or the police?
I am considering buying a toy hauler at 6100 pounds and with my ATV will put me about 6500 lbs (not including all the other items that goes in the toy hauler).

Re: RV Trailer pulling
Hi max towing amount for a 2008 h2 is 8,200 pounds. The truck with riders and stuff in the truck and trailer max is 15,000 pounds. The 2007 h2 and down is rated about 1200 pounds less i think, max amount for trailer being towing. GM also says to use a weight distributing hitch and a sway control of porper size on trailers that weigh 5000 pounds and over total with the load on it. I should add, i have a 28 ft car trailer with my drag car weighs 7900 pounds with all my stuff in it. I would not leave home without my weight distributing hitch. The race track is 100 to 400 miles from me depends on which track i go to. My h2 pulls fine with all the weight no heat problems or such. The 6 speed does back shift going up hills. Hope this helps.

Re: RV Trailer pulling
Thanks for the response. With the weight distribution hitch will it be legal if the trailer weighs a bit more?

Re: RV Trailer pulling
Hi its not legal in ontario, canada they can give you a fine and make you pull some of the weight off. Check your state laws.
