I can't say for sure adding 2 degree's is necessary just for cranking your Torsion bars, but thoughts are they are not needed.
I can say for sure, you don't need to remove the upper and lower control arms to replace the ball joints. A lot of work involved in doing that. I replaced my ball joints (upper and lower) with the control arms in place. I used a Ball Joint removal/insertion tool kit, like this http://www.harborfreight.com/ball-jo...l#.UyDx1NfD9Bk The lower ball joint needed a bit more persuasion so some PB Blaster and a hammer finished up the removal. The kit made it easy to put the new Ball Joints in.
