Default Anybody Done This?

I got some extra cash and looking to drop some power into my 2006 H2 in the form of a Chevy 572 crate engine. Anybody done this or anything like it? Is it even possible? Need some leads for someone to do this for me.

Why not take engine you got and drop in a performance crank, cam, pistons 10:1 ratio, ported heads, roller lifters, roller rockers, supercharge it running around 16 to 18 lbs. of boost and deal with tranny upgrade along with other small things I left. Run 1000 hp and smoke all 4 at a time. You could even take the 5 speed and select transfer case out of a 3/4 ton Silverado and have manual where you can run 2 or 4 wheel drive. Money may work out the same but, you would have trannt upgrade where you would not with the single engine change. Oh, I do believe it can be done the way you are thinking you would just be doing away with computers if you run carb. then switch tranny over to vacumm control where it is computer controlled right now.

Well just my thoughts it could be priced out both ways. My off the cuff is you would spend more changing out engines.

The tranny change is something I'm thinking about doing possibly for 2010 spring sema shop contest for Motorsports Authority and Dragon.

I just knew I'd be in for more trouble than I wanted with that engine change, but that 572 is so cool looking. You're right, I have a perfectly good engine to build on, only 9000 miles. so why not?

Thanks for the info.............

I do not think you would be disappointed. I have pushed my engine to 10 lbs. of boost with no problems. Hummer engineers told me the bottom end is tough as it was built to be in heavy pickups and big trucks. They agreed with me though that the top end needs more flow and roller rockers along with roller lifters. As I mentioned there are a few more goodies to be added to make engine bullet proof to run up to 18 lbs. of boost. You would want to add a water meth. inj. system to help make sure your not leaning out even if tuned properly just as a precaution when at WOT.

I'm using a truck 6L block for my Twin Turbo Trans Am build... run between 800-1000HP easy on that stock block.
