Angry Bad Heater Core!

So, the heater core on my '08 Alpha blew up on me last thursday.

It's under warranty, and at the shop. The dealership (Harvey Hummer in Grand Rapids, MI) has been good to me so far, but I'm worried about the lasting effects the coolant might have on the interior of my truck. I have read a lot of horror stories of not being able to get the smell completely out, which is not going to fly with me.

My question is, if they can't get the smell out, or if there is anything else that negatively effects the value of my truck, shouldn't I be able to re-negotiate for a new lease on another vehicle? I'm not looking to make money on the deal, it's just that I've only had my alpha for 9 months, and this is the third time it's been in the shop.

What do you think the chances of me negotiating on a different vehicle are? My biggest issue is that I'm in a lease, which I don't think they break very often.

Thanks for any input!

Default Re: Bad Heater Core!

Ask for new carpets(padding) and matts.
If they got soaked they should replace them.
Good luck

They're not going to replace your carpet. Maybe they can steam clean it or something if it's really bad. Most of the time it's not too bad and some of the gm odor eliminator gets rid of the smell. Don't worry, it'll be ok. We've replaced a few on 06's and after a couple of days the smell goes away.
