Just go to Wal-Mart. That is where I'm going to get mine.

Have to ask this one more time (last time was in another thread). Why go with a K&N filter since oil filters are notorious for not filtering the small particles out as good as a good paper element? Thus, if off-roading in a sandy area, there is the likelihood of increase fine particles entering the engine.
In addition, two-years ago, a bunch of us proved on Corvettes at a Dyno in Smyrna TN, that a straight replacement of a stock filter with a K&N did not increase the HP of the engine. (This does not include ram air intake systems using K&N, Blackwing, etc., oil coated air filters.)
I do know they can allow for more acceleration noise, and that is about all.
So, I'm just curious.

(Note for some information on testing of oil versus paper filters, one good place is:
Bob the Oil Guy - Sounds weird, but quite reputable and does a good job.
http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/airfilter/airtest1.htm
For other places, search the internet. I have personally seen the test results done by GM on these types of filters.)

if it cant get the smaller particles there is no problem switching back and forth to the paper filter. the butt dyno always reports an increase in throttle response "snap" with the k&n filter.

I can't prove that it increased my HP any, but after replacing the stock Motorcraft air filter on my new TBird with a K&N Filtercharger there was an increase in throttle response. Been using it for 122,000 miles now.

You guys should run some stopwatch tests before and after you install your parts. Everyone would like to THINK that they feel more power after spending money on their engine, but the dyno and the stopwatch will tell for sure. Today's modern engines are very efficient, and it is not as easy as it once was to simply change a minor part and increase power. Even chip changes often times just change the torque curve so that it feels like extra power is kicking in. Horsepower sells, so I would think that the manufacturer has already done everything that they could do to get the max out of their motors while staying within emissions boundries. Just an opinion.

Extra "snap" in throttle does not equal more HP. Can't honestly say we looked at that, and not sure if it would be an increase since the Vettes have an electronic throttle and the computers engine management system controls that pretty tightly.
All I can say is from the dyno tests we rant that day, along with dyno information posted on the Corvette Forum over a period of a few months, proved that cotton oil covered filter replacement cartridges did nothing for HP improvement.
Again, I'm not talking about these types of filters attached to ram air, or dual air intake systems, only exact size replacement air filter cartridges.
To each their own. I know I would rather spend that 50-70 bucks on other meaningful modifications; whether they be power or appearance related.

I put K&N filters + ram air tubes (made by K&N) on an XJ, TJ and 4.7L V8 WJ (Grand Cherokee).

I won't be putting one on the H3 because it's my belief that all they do is make a lot of noise.
