This is funny! What else do you guys want? I posted the reply from the senior photo editor at MotorTrend that took the photo...? All you guys can say against it is the truck is not dirty enough? C'mon... And just in case you think the e-mail is fake, I'll be glad to pass his e-mail address on to you off list if you would like to ask him personally...

The tread of the tiers are computerized look at the tread. They coputerized the tread so that it wont look like it has weight on the tiers because it was on the ground when they took the pic thats proof.

You are right, they must have coputerized the tiers. My mistake. How can you argue with proof like that?

If you show a picture of Osama on the moon, millions of people will believe it, even more think Saddam is a nice guy and a victim of USA. But we are trained to use logic to make judgement. As far as I am concerned, how is it possible that you can ignore the fact that Hummer is so clean, not to mentioned other points I mentioned before.
Trav, don't take it personally. what we are doing is what friends do when they hang out and talk about something totally irrelevant, which this qualifies.
I don't agree with Hummer H2 Man on the tire. They could simply raise the H2 in the shop. I think of course H2 can make the jump, but maybe a ramp is needed. Why don't some of you try it, I'm serious, I would like to know and see your pic. With all the Offroad PhD level talks around here, I would think to make a jump like this should be no big deal, didn't CO H2 do that? he said it is in his video. COH2, can you get a photo from your video to post here.
I read the posts in the general section too. How can it be no lots of sand kick up in the air? totally against the law physics. That little bits near the ground doesn't count, too little. The spinning tires should be spinning the sand too. Some sand don't stick? some sand moves fast, tire doesn't spin sand, etc... you go off-road, I don't think you believe that yourself for a second. Wash the Hummer before the shot? that means they need a water tanker next to the starting point, or else how did the H2 get to this point? flatbed? why? I've seen offroad photos, why in the world would they wash an offroad vehicle before the shot? the mud and dirt is a part of the whole picture.
Now, if you show the video or few photos of before and after the jump, that would settle the issue for good. What MT guy said doesn't answer the questions above. Surly MT has the other photos, they picked 1 out of 100s.

With lots of experience riding quads in the dunes as well as numerous vehicle excursions, I can tell you sand does not cause anything to get "dirty." Sand is actually very clean and driving around in the dunes will not produce a soiled vehicle. The pic looks legit to me.

How bout this!--rear window reflection, check out the back ground in the wheel spokes. Shadow, I would guess is the reason for the clean wheel well look.

Great point Big Z. The rear window reflection does show what appears to be the base and face of a dune.

My problem with the picture is shading. It seems that the sun is shining overhead and to the passenger side of the H2 based on the light reflection near the back of the hummer and the shadow underneath. Living in New Jersey I'm not used to seeing mountains like in the picture. It seems to me that the shading of the top of the mountains would suggest sun light behind the mountains or at least not consistent with light overhead and coming from the passenger side.

I have discovered a major conspiracy. The driver is not human at all, it is an alien. Take a look at the shadow of the Hummer, that looks like an UFO to me. This is a picture of an alien going home in a Hummer. The Hummer just lifted up, that explained everything, tiny driver with tiny head, no sand in the air or near the tire, in the blinding bright desert sand the wheel well is so dark and everything else. Everything makes sense to me now. I see 4 other tiny aliens in the Hummer. Yes, it is a real photo!

Driving in sand does not make it that dirty.
Try throwing some sand in your face and tell us if it sticks.
It`s a real photo. Why is it so hard to believe? Any off-roader or any car for that matter, can make a jump similar to that.

Achum's Razor states that all things being equal, the simplest answer is probably the correct one.
1. Was Motor Trend in possession of an H2? Yes.
2. Is an H2 capable of this stunt? Probably.
3. Were they near he desert? Yes.
4. Were they in possesion of photographic equipment? Yes.
5. Did they take the time and energy to secure (what appears to be) a computer graphics professional to modify a picture to excruciating detail for the sole pupose of slightly exaggerating the H2's performance? NO.
Get over yourselves people, and YES we actually DID land on the moon.

I brighten up the pics. You can clearly see the suspension unloaded and the driver. If you look at the original pic, there is sand stuck up on the rear bumper.
Looks like there's a rear passenger. Ask the Motor Trend dude if there was anyone in the back.

Here's a closeup of the rear window. There are mountains in the background.
As far as that black line? Not sure. Crane? 8) Not that they will drive a crane all the way to the desert.

All right, I'm going to settle this once for all.
If one of you CA guys will be so kind as to loan me your Hummer, I'll come out there and we can replicate the shot. Sound like a plan?
I think the picture is real. I've been wheeling in sand and not gotten dirty. I've seen pics in other mags of truck tearing it up in the dunes, and they weren't dirty either. And you're not going to tell me that Four Wheeler magazine is going to take the time to photochop a pic of a 78 Ford in the dunes, are you?
Those who think it's fake, why do you think they would fake it? Do you not think the H2 would stand up to it?
If anyone was to fake a pic like that, I'd say it would be AM General or GM.
Motor Trend has nothing to gain from faking that pic.
If I'm testing a vehicle and someone tells me to "get a little air", damn straight I'm going to put the hammer down and try to launch that sucker into orbit. What do I care if it breaks? It's not mine.

I have also determined that this photo is real and unaltered. Just to verify, I checked with the Motor Trend guy.

To everybody who cares,
I personally feel that this is a true picture.
Does it matter, I don't think so...
I look at it and I feel proud to be an owner of such a vehicle that has impressed such a well renowned auto magazine and their experts.
Why bash the photo???...For those who thimk it is fake, too bad...you'll never be convinced it is real no matter what is done to prove it...for those who think it is real...we say good things about it and feel good and if it is fake, I'll still love my truck anyway...
food for thought...
...looking at it makes me think that superman now has an appropriate vehicle for dates...heheheheehaw!!!
