dual lockers in regular H3 -when? or H3T only?
Anyone would happen to know whether we're going to see dual locker option for standard H3's (both alpha and regular). So far it seems that the option is only for H3T - so, is it going to happen anytime soon? Also, how about V8 - any chance to see it in regular non-alpha H3 so we wouldn't have to buy chrome, leather etc ... the options that we don't need or want? Or, maybe a chrome-free leather-free Alpha, that would work too.
I would wish to possibly swap my '07 H3 (base) for new H3 now (only some 15 months after I bought the vehicle), but only if I can get dual locker (and possibly V8) - otherwise the amount of financial loss of my trade-in would be hard to digest. I figured that if I can get new features (dual locker) and stronger engine, the transaction would be probably worth to me....

Re: dual lockers in regular H3 -when? or H3T only?
I think the front locker will be available with the Adventure Package but I am not sure on the engine combo or Alpha etc etc.
I'm still thinking of putting the new cast iron front axle and front locker into my H3. It would probably be cheaper than the loss you would take on a trade on your 07.
If they made a 5-speed manual trans Adventure Package with the V8 it would be a done deal for me.

Dan,
the "5-speed manual trans Adventure Package with the V8" model availability would probably result for me going to dealership right away as well...and particularly if that ADV included front locker.
It is an interesting idea to install front locker into your existing rig, but you have the adventure model to begin with, don't you? I have base/non-adv which is regrettable; I got my H3 without any research, it was spontaneous buy while shopping at the dealership for Yukon Well, seems like we'll have to wait and see how the '09 lineup turns out (this fall?)..
I don't really want Alpha because I don't want to find myself removing all the chrome after having to pay $$$ for it. I guess I could live with those chromes and leather on Alpha, but would definitely prefer not to; and it's dumb to buy stuff just to find yourself ripping it off the day you brought the vehicle home from the dealership. Or, is there non-blingy Alpha out yet? Wish GM would listen what customers want; maybe just being a bit more flexible with options could boost the sales.

Re: dual lockers in regular H3 -when? or H3T only?
I'm just looking for an 08, 5speed, Adventure w/o a sunroof.
1) very few 5 speeds seem to be made.
2) the handful that are found, all have sunroofs.
I'd like to see a front locker on the adventure pkg. I'd like to see the Hx produced too

Re: dual lockers in regular H3 -when? or H3T only?
From all the information I can find, the adventure package will include front and rear lockers..truck, regular, alpha, unleaded...all of em. I was thinking of going to the cast iron front, but then thought maybe the whole thing, with locker will be available someday. I hear ARB is talking later this year for front locker..

If you are going to add a front locker you might as well replace the front dif housing with the cast iron design.

Thats what I would do. From what i hear, adding one to the aluminum housing would be like lighting the fuse. I heard that ARB's was going to be a complete replacement of some sort..?

The adventure package will now include front and rear lockers on any model. It appears that you can use the front and or rear lock at your choosing because of the switches are seperate buttons.
You can't get rear locking by its self starting in 2009. Either both or nothing.

Re: dual lockers in regular H3 -when? or H3T only?
Usually on fully locked vehicles (from teh factory) the the T-case must be in low and rear locker must be locked up before you can lock the front diff.
That is how it is on the Jeep Rubicon.
Nothing a little wiring could fix though.

Re: dual lockers in regular H3 -when? or H3T only?
THAT'S FANTASTIC NEWS BUILDER!!! It's ashame now that the H3 has improved so much over the '06 model that GM is thinking about selling the brand. My son in Colorado is about to trade in my old H3 (with that beautiful Shadow Green Metallic paint) on a new 08 Alpha. The dealer let him take it home for the weekend and he loves it but wants the duel lockers for the Colorado weather. He's in Dillon. I think the fact that there are so many Hummers in Dillon speaks volumes about the capabilities of the H3 and H2.

I have found out sence posting this that the rear locks before you can lock the front. Not the front locking by its self.

Yes, you will have to wire the front locker seperate. I would wire it HOT off of your rear locker or use a hidden button for this though. There was a whole different thread on this somewhere. It still isn;t cheap enough yet though. ...about 2K for parts only. replacement diff assembly.
