MAC is off the scale

I thought about this Hummer privilage recently, it is something I have experienced since Day One of Hummer ownership, surprised I haven't thought about it a year & 19,000 miles ago. Unless the fast lane is packed, lone vehicle in front of my Hummer always pull out of the fast lane to let my Hummer pass. Many vehicles generally pull out the fast lane before I get there, if not, I slow down and keep a safe and polite distance. I don't flash my light and I don't tailgate but I do drive at 75-85MPH on freeway. I can imagine if I see this huge black box coming up in my review mirror at a fast clip, I'd get out of his way too. This afternoon coming home from work, in 18 miles, I counted 9 vehicles moved to the right lane for me, once I passed, they moved back into the fast lane. Including 3 cars pulled to the right at the same time to let me pass, that was amazing, I saw them all moved back into the fast lane after I passed. This is true with cars or SUVs or even big trucks. It is like Moses at the Red Sea.

NJ H2 has a little shameless behaviour in the past

Funny that you mentioned this MAC, because the same thing happened to me 3 times today.
You could be right or it could be that they just want to get a better look at the coolest truck on the road!

I agree with NJ H2. I think that the majority of people are moving over so they can get a look at the vehicle as you pass. Usually in NJ people will get in the passing lane and creep along with 30 cars piled up behind them and not even move over, even after several cars behind them go to the middle or right lane to pass them and then move back into the left lane.

I still have problems getting boxed in and can't change lanes on the freeway when folks get almost right beside me and go exactly my speed to scope out my H-2.

Respect or fear, or "Better Safe than sorry." When I am going 75-80-85MPH in the fast lane, if I see some crazy dude coming up fast behind me, whatever I am driving, I tend to get out of his way as a courtesy. I don't want the pressure of someone following me, even at a safe distance, if I know he's a fast one. I think cars get out of the fast lane for my Hummer out of courtesy and maybe some respect.

I don't think people stare at the Hummer on the road anymore. I was taking some German business visitors around San Francisco today, the usual spots, Fisherman's Whraf, Lombard street, Golden Gate Bridge, Cable cars, Chinatown, Palace of Fine Arts, etc... Lots of tourists still gather and stare at my Hummer.

I still get lookers for the H2..They will try to follow beside it for a little while. I usually travel 78mph. I've noticed they do move occasionally out of the way of the H2. However nothing like they do for my Suburban. Of course the Sub sits higher then my H2.. My wife says they get out of the way because they can see the Red and Blues behind the grill.. I think it is because the darn thing looks so big in their mirrors.
I have often though that the State needs to put in a lnae just for "Mike" and it is upsetting when someone is driving slower in "Mikes" lane. Ego or just nuts.. don't ask the wife.
