Hurst Handle for 5 Speed
I had the nutty idea of adding a t handle in place of the knob currently on the 5 speed manual transmission. Has anybody done this yet. Do I replace the knob by itself or the knob and the handle?
Thanks

Re: Hurst Handle for 5 Speed
The knob is part of the shaft. It would need to be cut off then something welded on for you to install the hurst handle on. I've got a rock knob sitting at my house waiting for me to get off my lazy arse and do this.

Re: Hurst Handle for 5 Speed
I looked at the HURST web-site and don't see a kit for HUMMER so i'm guessing you want just the handle ?

Re: Hurst Handle for 5 Speed
I would buy a new knob/shaft and cutomize it and swap it and keep the original one.
Anyone know if you can put a handle (T or something similar to the H2) on a automatic shifter ?
I put a Hurst T handle on my 442 (TH400 auto,shift kit)

Re: Hurst Handle for 5 Speed
Ok so I guess it's going to be the Handle and the shaft. Any ideas hove the handle shaft connects to the tranny before I start tearing apart the car?
I was told by a 16 year old that if I put this handle on and bolted a giant wing to roof of the car then I could get the hummer to wheel stand!

Re: Hurst Handle for 5 Speed
From what I remember, the shaft is held on by an allen or torx screw that is low on the drivers side of the shaft. Pop the boot off and look down that side, you should see it.

Re: Hurst Handle for 5 Speed
6pack is correct, this is on my long list list of things to do. On the driverside there is a torx set screw, the whole thing is attached at the boot/cover by a "o" ring. You can get it off but it is a little tricky putting it back. I thought I would have a new shifter shaft turned by someone and make it so I could change the shift knob. Haven't looked if anyone is making after market on this yet.
