Default steering/breaks????

so i was backing a trailer today and lost my power steering... also lost my brakes? really? good job gm guys with this?? any ideas? im about to jack the front end up and see if it will steer free with no weight on it. im thinking the power steering pump. but it doesnt make any noise.. belt is still on.. i dont get it. any thoughts??

well i learned 2 things last night... how to spell brakes.. and also that im not going to be backing a trailer on the grass in a night spot any more... plum sheared my power steering pump shaft in half... kinda impressive really.. but got a new one for 70 bucks and an hour and a half later shes up and running brakes and all... what dumb ass thought that system up...to bad ford didnt buy the hummer line prob have a much better product

I haul a 40 ft toy hauler (10200LB )and back it up all the time (on dirt,grass,gravel,snow) with my 05 2500 HD ext cab 4x4 duramax/Allison that has the same hydroboost pump as my H2 and never had a problem with ether . I can't imagine what happened to yours . and if ford had designed or built it it would have broken sooner along with many other components .
