Default H2 SAS

I have an '03 H2 with a 6" Fabtech running 40X15.50X20 and am having problems with the front diff and axles holding up. I have put 5.13 gears and e lockers front and back but my diff case keeps cracking. Has anybody done an solid axle swap on one of these? I found a kit sold by pure perfomance but it is made for GM 2500-3500. I know the front end is the same but the rear end on ours has coils/bags instead of leafs. Any suggestions?

If you can find a shop competent enough to install the front, then they should have some idea of what the rear would need. I switched an older 4Runner's rear coils to leaf springs, and it wasn't too bad. But I believe there were kits for that. The problem will be finding people who have done this already. But as they say, "Anything is possible".

why do you need any work done to the rear axle for a SAS?

also iv thought about SAS before and this may be a dumb idea, but couldnt you just use the h2 rear axle (14bolt)etcEtcETC and make it work using all the rear h2 parts?
this way nothing has to be fabbed and spare parts are avialable when needed.
i know steering would probably have to change tho due to space/fitting issues

I thought from what the OP wrote about rear coils that he was considering switching to leaf springs in the rear. Otherwise, nothing...

Another thing to consider is how this will affect the AWD system. A few years back, a shop that did some work for me did a SAS on a Tahoe, and they had all kinds of trouble with the transfer case. Can't remember the details, but they had to swap transfer cases. However, this allowed them to put manual hubs up front and have two-wheel drive available.

I'm not sure if you'll have this problem with the H2, but it's something worth looking into.

Yeah that is what I'm thinking, putting a regular GM 2500 transfer case and manual hubs up front.

As far as the ass end is concerned, the kit comes with coil-overs ect. So I was going to go ahead and throw Dodge 3500 axles in front and rear so I could rotate tires and not run into wheel/lug problems or have to unmount tires.
