Boss Hoss is off the scale
Default Broken speedometer needle

Some how or another the kids managed to brake my lense covering my speedometer. I procrastinated on fixing the lense and one day i look down at my speedometer and the needle is sitting well below 0...looked like i was going -30mph(this just happened to be right after i had my truck detailed and im pretty sure they stuck their finger in there and fooled with it but i cannot prove it). Back to the issue at hand...i can manaul put the needle on 0 and seems to work fine untill i turn the truck off then it reverts back to -30 everytime. Am i going to have to buy a new cluster or does anyone know of an easy fix for this?

Pull the needle off and reset it. A fork works good to pry them off. Its just sitting on there so if someone rotates it with their finger it will be misalined. Be carefull there delicate... but thats why theres a lense there

If you GENTLY remove the needle, and place it slightly above zero you can force an auto reset (if it does not do it when you turn the key... don't think it will).

All you do is: remove the 2 hex bolts on the middle (inst cluster trim), loosen the right hex bolt on the left (near the driver's door) and remove. Note that the cluster trim goes under the center panel trim and the left side vent trim.

You will NOT need to remove the 2 screws inside the instrument 'hood' (at least on an '03). Be careful with the dash trim clips, but you can just pull the trim off.

Then, detach the 4 7mm bolts to loosen the cluster and unplug the wiring harness from the back. As soon as you plug that back in you will hear the motors 'turn' and calibrate the needles.

Good luck
