Rocky Road Outfitter Rails
Hokay! Got the email saying they have been shipped. Has anyone recently gotten a pair? Has the quality, fit, etc., improved any? also, does the UCP package work with these rails?

Re: Rocky Road Outfitter Rails
Got mine last week. Maybe there QC is getting better as mine went on in an hour, by myself, in the dark with a flashlight. You have to use a little TLC to get them on but I was able to get all the bolts to fit. The only problem is that they will probably send you the wrong bolts (too big). I am very happy with them, they are very functional as sidesteps, look great, but I haven't had the chance to prove them offroad yet. Pictures with new tires and Rails to follow this weekend. The RRO rock rails are compatible with the OEM UCP, I have that set up now.

Could you take a pic of you stepping on them? I've seen pics of the RRO steps, but it didn't look like there was enough sticking out for a toehold. tia

Re: Rocky Road Outfitter Rails
I got mine about two weeks ago, wrong bolts and could only get five of six bolts in. Top bolt hole on front mount on both side was out of place by about 3/16". Bolts need to be 10mmX1.5T about 20-30 MM long. I got 12mmX1T about 60mm long shipped with rails. I'm over my dissatifaction with QC cause they look great. I posted pics in this thread:

Remember YMMV.

Re: Rocky Road Outfitter Rails
I'm very interested in hearing from those who purchased and installed these rockers whether they are truly functional as steps for wives, children, granny and the vertically challenged etc.
With the OEM rails and removable steps priced around $900 together, these would seem to be a cost effective alternative, if they are usable as assist steps.
They look a bit high in relation to the oem steps or tubes - can the less macho (than us real men) really use them as steps?? What say ye?

Re: Rocky Road Outfitter Rails
They work as steps but not very good, the powder coat will be slick when wet and they do not drop far from the rocker panel so they are pretty high to use as a step.

Re: Rocky Road Outfitter Rails
Mine haven't been slick at all when wet.... I think they make a great step, better than the stock U-steps... and...they made it through the rubicon...

Re: Rocky Road Outfitter Rails
Planned on installing them today, but I wimped out.
It's cold! My back hurts! I have a screwed up leg!
I spoke with a local garage, and I may farm this project out. Hell, I just installed the tonneau on the wiff's SUT, and her brush bar is due in next week!
Yeah, I know... and
