Monsoon Blowout
Well I have 13789 miles on my H3 with no problems until today. Started my truck and a sound like a lowpitched sirein came blasting out of the monsoon speaker drivers side rear panel. The sound lasted only 30 seconds. If I use the stereo system the sound contiunes constant. If I leave the stereo off then every now and then it will just blast the sound for sevral seconds. Every time I start the truck it sounds????????
Today is Saturday the dealers service department is closed, so I have to live with this sound for the whole weekend. Well actually I checked the manual and removed fuse #38 to the amp and that kills the sound and the system.
Also I get a small amount of water in the top of my sunroof after it rains, and it leaks, but never when driving only after sitting still in the rain, then you go some place and about two onces of water slide forward onto the passenger > then its stops. Weird that it does not leak when driving.
Has anyone else had a problem with the monsoon system.

One other guy had a subwoofer amp go bad. His made a rattling noise rather than a siren noise. The dealer fixed him up with a new amp, and everything was fine.

Re: Monsoon Blowout
I had my sub go bad out (eg blown speaker) in the first 4 months 300 miles that was with light usage, not crazy on the bass. I used to run huge systems in my cars (dual 12", all other speakers powered via amps) so I know I wasn't being rough the system, after it was replaced all has been well for about a year or 1,500 miles however you to measure it.

Oneworld,
Curious - factory sunroof or dealer added aftermarket sunroof?

Re: Monsoon Blowout
Sound like you may have a drain clogged. I have no idea where they are or how to check them.
It makes sense (at least to me) that water won't collect during driving. When sitting in the rain the water comes relatively straight down and can collect in puddles on top of the truck. It also runs off slower. When driving you have a wind at whatever MPH you are driving pushing the water off the roof. It doesn't get a chance to collect.

Re: Monsoon Blowout
Steve factory roof, it just happens when it sits, yopu start the truck and move forward or backward and the two onces or so of water slide out from the right side and down onto the seat or who ever.
Thanks for the insight "all of you" I will get the truck to the dealer this weak after the 4th and let you know how they handle it.
Hope it is covered in the warranty

Re: Monsoon Blowout
Hi I have factory sunroof as well, no problems. However on my ZR2 Blazer I had the EXACT same problem you described. It was indeed a clogged drain line, I think you have to remove the headliner to get to them. But may just be talking out my ass.

Re: Monsoon Blowout
There's a TSB on the factory monsoon system. Take it to your dealership and they'll R&R the unit for free if you tell them that you have a buzzing comming from the speakers. iI worked for me when I had the same problem.
