So I am getting ready to put in the Hella's, and I just decided to look in the fuse box, seeing how the truck is still new to me (300 miles) and this is what I found! Lucky for me it was only seeds....not any other items were found.

Are you sure those are seeds and not some kind of little bugs? I've seen little bugs just like those accumulate in cubby holes in the engine bay before.

Time for some shopvac action on that. That truck must have been sitting somewhere for a while. Or maybe the dealer liked to stash trailmix in various cubby holes in case of WWIII. Is that an option now on new trucks?

well, I was...now I am wondering if it is a bug...probably my shop vac is going to fly by me on it's own in a second. I see that whatever it was came in the hole on the inside (the bottom left if you were facing the front of the truck) because the plastic is chewed ever so slightly on one of the relays. Looks like maybe a small ass mouse could get though it. (small ass mouse is a native breed to VT)

If those are seeds, I sure would want to know who/why they are there. You ought to make a phone call.

I assume they are from when it was on the lot at the dealer. Probably some small deer mouse found it's way up there. I have already gone though boarder patrol and they didn't smell anything...so I assume the seeds (if they are seeds) are local and legal.

Those fuse boxes are common homes to the "small ass mouse." Many times, though, it is under the fuses in the area where all of the wires are. GM has been using that power distribution style box like that and it's not uncommon to have extra passengers up in there.

that looks like a pile of Box elder bugs. we have them here by the millions. I use laundry detergent to in my yard sparyer 50/50 with water and it kills them and everything else lady bugs ,bees ,wasps, etc.

if you have a spot the mice are in, pack it with old dryer sheets to keep mice out. the Orken man told me that one.

So, I can just get my wife to keep all of the old dryer sheets and throw them into the crawl space to keep the rats away? Do you know if they have a particular brand preference?

On that note, I just bought one of those professional fogger machines. It has been so wet here this winter that the crawl space had some mold and mildew and I bought the fogger and some Microban X and fogged the underside of the house. Also, I plan of using the fogger to fog the yard this spring and summer to kill the damn mosquitos. The city has a truck mounted fogger that comes around about once every 2 months it seems, like that is going to make an impact. I am waging war on the mosquitos this year.

I opened up my fuse center last night to check amp fuse due to radio not working and found a bird nest inside gonna take to dealer monday and get fixed and ask them what type of pre delivey insp they do not to see that when they put all the lights on it. only had the truck for 2 months and 1500 miles so far

I don't know which dryer sheets do the best, I have been told they are just to smelly for even a mouse.

I had a ground hog dig in under my barn, when I found the pile of dirt & gravel I poured old gear oil in it then packed it back in the hole with a spud. it started to dig it back out till it hit that gear oil. I don't think it liked the smell, let alone have you ever tried to get the smell off without soap? that thing wasn't going to be getting Female ground attentions anytime soon.

PRAIRIE DOGS GET SUCKED
A report out of Amarillo, Texas, reveals that Dog Gone, a company specializing in pest control, has a profitable use for the prairie dogs it eliminates from U.S. sites.

It sells them to Japan--at $700 per animal--after collecting them in a gigantic vacuum cleaner.

This suction device was invented by Gay Balfour, the co-owner of Dog Gone, reported the May 24, 1996 Washington Post.

On May 21, some three to four dozen valuable rodents were sucked out of their underground dwellings by the machine and deposited into a containing area. Only creatures of lighter weight made the trip through the big hose, because of the machine's specs.

The other co-owner, Dave Honaker, spoke of capturing only the littler prairie dogs, and added, "They make good pets; they're real trainable and social animals."

His announcement did not answer certain questions that could occur to one. Like: how much did the process traumatize the creatures, and how did the wholesale removal of their young affect the parents left behind in the colonies?

However, the company's methods are certainly preferable to other, more fatal, types of "pest control."

Ken,

I saw a video of that (very interested since I grew up in Lubbock, also known as Prairie Dog Hell). You should HEAR the thump those suckers make when they exit the intake inside the truck. The walls are padded and they had a video inside the catch cage. They're a little stunned but ok. Pretty cool!
