Old news about V-8, different source
Buying or Selling a Home?
A General Motors Powertrain plant near Buffalo, New York, will begin making a new V-8 engine in 2009 after the company spends 300 million dollars on upgrades at the facility.
Meanwhile, production of GM's I-5 engine will shift from the plant to Flint. The move will require the addition of about 45 additional workers once production begins at Flint Engine South in August.
The five-cylinder I-5 powers the Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon and Hummer H-3. The Flint plant will undergo about 16 million dollars in upgrades to handle the new work, which will run on the same production line as a six-cylinder engine.
GM officials say the engine to be built in New York will be among the most technically advanced and fuel efficient in the auto industry.
