Hi-Lift Jack mount without roof rack?
Anyone make or fab up some brackes for a Hi Lift jack that can be bolted
to the roof rails or maybe behind the spare tire? I just bought the fuel can mount for the spare tire. Now woundering where I can mount a Hi-Lift jack without spending thousands for a roof rack.

Remove the front hooks, make a small mount between the two that goes up from the hooks. Mount the hi-lift to that, on the front of the vehicle. Replace the hooks/ If you have a brushguard it might not work, but it's nothing more than a couple 3/16" plates with bolts to mount through the hi-lift. I haven't done it, but I've been thinking about it for some time - a great place for a jack.

I was thinking about that. i dont plan on running a brush guard but I do plan on getting a winch (someday). Im gonna try to be a little creative and try to fab something up for the roof rails.

These have enough clearance to bolt to the roof rails & mount a 60" hi-lift across the top of the roof. I don't have the factory roof crossbows, but got some cheesy tie-down things. Take those off and use the little mount pieces (that slide in the rails) to bolt down the hi-lift mounts. I bet if you put it right at the rear of the roof rails, it would be easy to open the rear gate, get the hi-lift off the roof.
Of course, a 60" hi-lift will stick out about 2" on each side...

Re: Hi-Lift Jack mount without roof rack?
I was thinking about those too but the jack would sit kinda high. I dont want the jack to look like a big red spoiler on my H3. I like the idea but would make one that sits a little closer to the roof.

totally OT, but I was looking for some hummers w/bling wings and found this...

back on topic, you could turn the mounts sideways, put them both on the same rail, and have the hi-lift mounted parallel to the sides. Would still stick up a bit, but wouldn't improve downforce at high speeds

Re: Hi-Lift Jack mount without roof rack?
Do you want it on the truck all the time or just for trips?
Untill you get a roof rack you could bunjee cord it to the cross bows or use some U-bolts to hold it on the rack. I have seen the done with a high lift and shovel. Maybe drill through the cross bow and put a bolt through with a clevis pin or wing nut. You could add a pad lock too.
Last time I put the high lift on the floor (not the best if you roll over) Next time I will put it on the cross bows.
Thule Racks have an optional high lift jack mount and so do Confer racks. Th Gobi highlift mount is very pricey
I dont like bumper mounts becasue if your stuck in mud, snow bank or snow the jack may be burried and if you get in a wreck you jack gets trashed

Re: Hi-Lift Jack mount without roof rack?
This is for a 5 gallon gas can - so a can and 5 gallons of gas would be at least 30 pounds - it might work for a 48 inch jack - redrill some holes and put some big bolts on there.
Because the jack is so heavy it might not but maybe somthing with this concept -
Adapter bolts to the three lug studs that retain spare tire to vehicle. The adaptor is adjustable from 5" to 10" long. To easily fit it to the depth of your spare tire.

Re: Hi-Lift Jack mount without roof rack?
I have my jack, shovel and axe u-bolted to my Thule rack. Works very well and cheap solution however I am weak and the jack is heavy to lift up there.

One of or members attached a couple of high lift mounting brackets to his roof cross bars....
