XM Radio?
I was told my H3 was XM radio ready, what ever that means. I want to get XM radio, what do I need to buy for the H3... someone said all I need is a tuner.. I have no clue.

Re: XM Radio?
Call XM or go to their site, and have your VIN -- they'll get you goin...no extra equipment needed

Re: XM Radio?
If your H3 came with the XM module, you would have had the service for free for 3 months.
Press the BAND button on the radio until you see XM on the display. Tune until you see the XM serial number of the radio. You should also be able to hear XM preview on channel 1. If not, you're not equipped for XM.
Call 1-800-XM-RADIO and tell them you want to activate the radio. They will ask you for the XM serial number.

Re: XM Radio?
As far as I know all that XM radio ready means is that the head unit (radio) is compatible with xm plug and play tuner. What this means is that to get xm sat radio you need to buy and install the tuner and an xm antena and your done.
You night actally have the tuner installed and just need a subscription like the previous poster said. If thats the case just call xm and as Hummer Guy said "they'll get you goin".
To figure out if you have the xm tuner installed try pressing the source button on the radio to see if it will change to XM1 or XM2. If it does then go to channel 0 or channel 1, i am not really sure, and your radio ID will display on the amber lcd on the front of the radio. This means you have the tuner and all you need is a subscription.
By the way if you got the H3 new and it does have the XM tuner, the dealer should have activated it for you with a free 1 or 3 month subscription! You should look into that. It gives you enough time to try the programing and see if you would like to stick with it.
Sorry for the long write up. Hope I was of help

Re: XM Radio?
Ok, went out and I only have FM1, FM2, and AM. So I grapped my VIN and will call XM in the morning.
I've been deployed out here in AZ and there are no radio stations so I got to do something before I cut my wrist

Since XM1 & 2 did not come up when selecting sources you do not have an XM tuner but the head unit is XM compatible. It is very simple to add XM to the factory head unit which is what I did until I bought a NAV unit. I had totally forgotten but I do have this XM Tuner for an H3 for sale in the classifieds in your interested.

Called XM customer service this morning and the phone was of course routed to some 3rd world country, which I could barely understand the guy. Never got any of my questions answered. This is why I like these forums, you can get educated answers to your questions
HummerNewbie I posted on your classified add.
