Windshields
After searching through all the previous threads on stars and cracks in the windshield from rocks I decided to go with the Glass Doctor for a star in the glass the size of a dime. They warn you when they drill it out, the windshield could crack more, but the drilling went well. After it was all done, I have to admit, it's more noticeable that it was before, but they say the cracking won't spread now. The guy that did the work had been with them 10 years and admitted changing the front windshield on an H2 was a major job and runs $465 without insurance. When I asked, he didn't know anything about taping down the plastic side pieces though to prevent them from rattling at high speeds. If I had to do it all over, I think I'd just go with a new windshield.

Go ahead IRA, tell us how you really feel! Every time I buy a new spamming software filter, they defeat it in a few months.

FYI, you can get a new windshield for $300 installed just about anywhere. It can be done in 30 minutes. Very easy to do as well. HAve done 2 or more each year for the past 5 years.

Re: Windshields
I agree on going with the entire windshield. Not sure where you live, but my last windshield on my H2 last summer ran $422 at American Windshield. My insurance with All State is $500 deductible on all car glass, so it's out of pocket.
