I have a question for all the people that have replaced their stereos. Were you able to keep the retained accessory power (RAP - 10 min. of power after engine is off.) with the new stereo? I have had other GM vehicles where you have to get the 12V acc lead from a seperate place than the stereo harness because of RAP. This meant that RAP no longer worked for the stereo.

Buzz as long as you connect the 2 purple wires together in the factory harness when replacing stock radio you wont loose RAP.Check out Crisco's web site it tells you how.

First Hummer is correct, and the radio is the only RAP function component that is not powered through the RAP relay.

Thanks for the replies. I think the RAP is a nice feature that I didn't want to lose.

You guys are close--you will need to connect the purple wires together (actually ther are 3--two in the 24 pin plug and one in the 12 pin) to maintain databus intergerity which inturn controls the RAP. Now when you will need to use an interface of some sort to maintain onstar and/or warning chimes. This interface will provide a 12v switched lead that will operate with the RAP circuit.
