Re: Paragon around 6-20
I saw an H3 with a winch mounted under the license plate, but it was in my rear view mirror and I couldn't get a pic. It had a Gobi rack too. Those look cool on an H3.
This was one of the Real Wheels H3's; the offroad version.

Re: Paragon around 6-20
Oldhiker was kind enough to find a third truck to go with us into Paragon AP, so today I'm packing up and headed across Ohio thru Toledo and Columbus. Does anyone know if there is anything in particular I should not miss?

OldHiker, did you go out on the wood trails on Monday or Tuesday? I did them all on Wednesday and some of it was getting pretty muddy. Here's what I collected that day.
The guy who ran behind me, had his cradle winch on for one of the trails. Here's what he picked up in one of the ditches.

Re: Paragon around 6-20
You should have stopped that chrome jungle gym in front of you and said, "Hi". Everyone knows what Rock's truck shines like.
Heck, you two could have caravaned east together.

Re: Paragon around 6-20
Arrived late yesterday afternoon back home. Had a great time. I did the woods tours on Tuesday and Thursday. Wednesday was the plant tours. I tried to get them to let me run the H1 graduate courses, but it was a no go. Same with the rock crawling obstacles.
The woods rides ware basically for people with limited or no off-road experience. But it allowed the driver to really see what the truck could do. Stock tires become slicks and have about as much traction in the mud. This made the rides very slow. I have the MT/R's that make small work of the mud.
I was on a max lean angle and it was funny to see the washer fluid gushing out of the drivers nozzle when I was at full lean. They also did a maximum climb and descent angle obstacle.
I'd show all my pictures, but my camera disappeared!
Getting ready to head out to Paragon. Lots of mud is predicted.

Rocks, Mapquest has changed it's "fastest" route to our house from Paragon. It has you coming down the Eastern Shore of MD and VA and across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. It's a nice easy drive and there's lot's of scenery. No NoVA "Mixing Bowl", unless you go to DC. (You should really stop there if you can)

That's for sure. Anyone with half a brain would have realized that the trails there we made by HUMMERs for HUMMERs to use and, more importantly, they had a schedule to keep and a lot of people to move through. So they weren't going to make it too difficult. I was a complete wheeling noob, and while I had some anxious moments the first times I banged down on the frame and UCP, by the end of the day (starting with the infield and doing the 1, 2, and 3 trails), I was really comfortable doing it and just wanted more.
Anyone who did it and now thinks they are a wheeling genius is delusional.

I was still pretty impressed with my stock BFGs. I saw a lot of people in H1s 2's and 3's having trouble by simply not being agressive enough on the slippery stuff to keep the tires cleaned out. I got stuck once, but it was stupid pilot error. I got hung up on a log on a tight turn while too much attention to the trucks ahead of me and too little to my surroundings.

Ditto. Apparently we were the only ones with full wiper fluid b/c no one else I talked to noticed that.

I stopped by the Amstar booth for a while. They had an H3 with this style of bumper on it. I didn't talk with them about it as I have an H2 and wasn't thinking much about the 3er's, nor did I take pictures, sorry.
I did however talk for a while with Jim Armour (Jr...not his daddy whose pres/ceo of AMG) from MileMarker. He mentioned an H2 bumper they were doing. He told me it'll be available through Amstar shortly and that it was going to be a lot like the Warn, though I'm not really sure how it'll differ. He also said they had a version of it that would accomodate the 12K hyrdaulic winch. Neither he nor Amstar guy had the prototype at the homecoming though. They both said it'd be available in the next month or two though. We'll see.
The Amstar guy said that marketing really jumped the gun this winter and that engineering and productions been playing catchup on the H2 and 3 products and we'll start seeing more of their stuff later this summer as they work out kinks with their dealer relationships.

The one I posted the pic of was by another manufacturer but the AmStar stuff is pretty cool if they ever get it to market. The big problem with them is they will be selling through the dealerships only which means way over priced

That is what I thought too. Don't know if they have released it yet but here is the full pic anyway.

Approach angle is about the same ( roller fairlead might change it alittle ) But I had no problems at all... I used it at the dunes..... Helped a fellow H-3'er out.... Works great, There's a Warn M8000 under the bumper
