Question Need help

Hi everyone

I just got myself a new (chip) key for my 2008 H2 today from the dealer. Here's the breakdown, the key cost $25 and to cut it cost $50 plus tax(13% here in Canada Toronto). So now my key is only good for opening the door( because my key is not program ).The dealer wanted another $120 plus tax to program it for me So before I do so.I would like to know if anyone here would give me some advises on how to program it??Do I need some kind of software for it??Or can I just do it on my own Or do really need to spend that $120 ?!!

Thanks in advance!!!

1. With a previously learned master key, turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
2. Turn OFF the ignition and remove the key.
3. Within 10 seconds of turning OFF the ignition, insert the key to be learned and turn ON the ignition. The vehicle has now learned the new key.

the keyless remote should be used to open the door and then the key should start the truck.

If you need the remote programmed then I would look on the internet cause I did our Firebird, Camaro, and Avalanche all from instructions from there and btw your dealer sucks ~Richard

When I bought my H2, I got only one fob, so I bought one from a source that said "free programming." The "free programming" turned out to be a sheet with instructions how to do it. I tried five times and it would not work. So I called the source who walked me through the steps. One step was missing from the paper instructions! The oral instructions worked.
