I saw a post about this a while back, but was non-productive using the find feature.
What is the best way to ship with tires mounted on wheels?

I can't tell you what everyone else has done but I did have to send a set a few months ago. I checked and it seemed the cheapest way was USPS.
They will either let you send them boxed or unboxed... however, if you send them unboxed, there is an add'l 7 dollars charge (I think that is the correct amount)
Hope that helps.

You could also ship them Via Greyhound bus.

Get some cardboard and a roll of shrink wrap. tape the cardboard over the face of the wheel then wrap the shrink wrap around the whole tire. Keep going until it's covered, then tape the ends. It will look like a giant plastic hocky puck.
They will probably be too big to ship USPS. UPS will do it, though. Either go to a UPS store or find a buddy with a UPS account.
