Re: light off-roading on Pinkham Canyon Road, a few pics
Awesome pics! Man I wish we had some scenic off pavement drives out east. I really like the idea of taking trips like that and camping out, etc. Have you ever seen the mag Overland Journal? Check it out. I bet you would like it.

Re: light off-roading on Pinkham Canyon Road, a few pics
Thanks for your kind comments guys, glad that you liked the pics. I do feel lucky having such a nice terrain so close to where I live ? generally can get out whenever I want, no planning ahead needed because it takes only about 30 minutes or so. Only problem is the extreme summer heat but still have a few months left until the sun hits at full strenght. I?ll post some pics again when something comes out nice. BTW, images are from scanned medium format (645) B&W film. Thanks for the Overland Journal tip, looks good and I may subscribe it ? I have other off-road and nature magazines but wasn?t aware of this one.

645 film, what have you got for a medium format camera ? I have an older Mamiya RZ67 myself.

Cliff, I use Mamiya 645ProTL, with 55mm and 80mm Sekor N lenses, plus handheld Sekonic L-558 spot/lightmeter. I usually use 2 backs, one for B&W and one for color. I have unprocessed color roll from this trip too - however, I usually wait with color processing until I have more c-41 films to do in the batch because mixed c-41 chemisty doesn't last too long. I'll post color shots at some point too; I'm planning to go to Joshua Tree next week again. RZ67 is nice, been thinking about one too, but I already have loads of other gear, including several large format field cameras up to 8x10". The nice thing about 645 size is that it is not much bigger then 35mm (or maybe a good DSLR), and definitely possible to shoot handheld if needed.. but, RB/RZ67 which you've got would be definitely suitable for poster-sized off-road Hummer shots.
OK, went bit off-topic guys - sorry
here is a shot from another day (near Indio Hills, CA)- hope I didn't post this one yet:
