HI all...just got my cute little H3 tonight! I'm so excited..traded in my 98 Expedition and just LOVE it.

I do have some questions though...I gave in to the sales pitch and bought the Hitch Cam for $1295. Now, I realize I can get one for much, much less expensive. It's not installed yet, was supposed to bring it in on Wednesday evening. So, I'm basically going to call and 'cancel' it tomorrow now that I have found this great forum.

So..here's my question. I see that some of your are getting the rear camera AND a navigation system all in one type unit. Where can I these? I don't even know where to start. Is it feasible to get one that has both Nav and Rear camera for about the same price as what I was paying the dealer for the cam?

My other question is the radio situation. My H3 came with the XM radio. I have a Sirius unit that I purchased for the Expedition that I would rather use. The Sirius unit uses a radio frequency (88.5 I believe) but I don't know how or even if I can turn off the XM part and just have a regular radio. Is that even possible?

Any help on either of these subjects would be great.

So glad I found this place..lots of great info here.

Congrats on your new baby and welcome.

Don't think I would call it cute though

Check around with local car audio shops with a good reputation. You can get a new stereo with navigation that also has inputs for a reverse camera. I am guessing that you can get one for around $1k but can spend over $2k for you. I have seen the cameras for as little as $200. I really don't know what everything would cost to install as I always do it myself. You are going to spend more than the $1295 at the dealer but you are also going to have navigation which you wouldn't have through the dealer.

Your Sirius unit will work just fine in your H3. The XM is free for the first three months with your purchase of the H3. After that, if you don't want it, just don't sign up for it. If you go the route I mentioned before you can get a navigation unit that is Sirius ready and the quality would be better than what you are used to.

Thanks so much. I think you are right..I might as well spend a bit more and get both the nav and the camera. I'll start looking for one that is Sirius ready, I think that's the way to go.

So for now, this is a silly question but how do I turn 'off' the XM part of the radio? Or can I? I want to be able to just use the reg radio so I can hook up Sirius asap.

Thanks again.

Have you ordered your H3?

Hi, congrats on your new truck and welcome to the forum!!

You don't need to disable the XM radio at all, if you want to listen to your Sirius unit just press the BAND button until you see FM and then tune in the FM radio frequency of your Sirius unit (88.5), that way you will be able to listen tu sirus... if you want to listen to XM (which I would recommend so you can compare both) just press the BAND button again until you see XM ...

As HummerNewbie said, you will get XM free for three months, so you can listen to both and compare them, if you don't like XM just don't subscribe and keep listeting to your Sirius radio.

Good Luck..

DeLeon...perfect..that's exactly what I was was looking for. I appreciate the response. I was pretty sure there was a way to do it, but having spent all of 20 minutes in the vehicle (the drive home) I hadn't figured it out yet.

Rubber ducky..I know what you mean! I'm so excited, I'm almost embarrassed..lol.

My BIL works at a Chevy dealership and almost had me sold on a new Tahoe. Honestly, it was a a GREAT deal with about 10k in incentives, etc but they are just so BORING..they are everywhere. I figured I might as well enjoy my hour ride to work each day and stand out a bit.

I'm sure I will have lots of questions as I bought pretty much the base model but I will be adding to it as I go.

I got the Boulder Gray which I love and the first thing I'm going to buy other than the hitch cam/possible nav system is the painted tire cover. Those things looks great.

Hitchcam is still cheapest and proven way of getting rear visibility. Dealer here in Silicon Valley was doing specials at $1100 installed. But for those wanting NAV and willing to spend more money, 442 and Mark have had systems installed that actually work well.

Do you know if this is the one that is installed by the dealers?

Hitchcam

Does the one that fits the H2s also fit the H3s?

Hard to believe there have been 11 posts on this topic and no one has asked for pics.

Getting sloppy, guys.

Pics please. (of the H3, of course, but feel free to include yourself)

I doubt you want to see my H3...she's kind of plain right now. I didn't get the Adventure package and now I'm bummed. I want bigger tires..lol. Also, I just got the basic black package (no bling, bling). Regardless, I REALLY like it.

Got a price for the 2 headrest DVD players and a backup camera both for $1900. I think I'm going to do it.

If you just bought your H3, you should have been able to get the two headrest DVDs for $299. Didn't the promo get extended until at least the end of the month?

I asked the dealership if the 'deal' was still on and they said it ended on the 5th. Does anyone know if this is true or not?

The ones I'm looking at both have top loading DVD players so each child (7 & 9) can watch what they want and not fight with each other. One's a girl and likes the girly girl movies and the other is a hockey player..lol.
