WTT: Bright crossbars for black crossbars
Looking to trade my bright finish / chrome roof rack crossbars for the black ones. Any takers, PM me. I'm in Northern NJ, work in Westchester area NY if anyone local wants to swap, otherwise we'll have to figure out how to trade via shipping I guess.

Did I mention these are OEM in great condition? Never used em for anything. Just sitting up there waiting to be black!
Look just like this:

Thought about that, but I'm not good at painting and stuff like that. What kind of paint? Wouldn't it flake off?
They'd come out like ****e....I know it. LOL.

Lightly sand them with 240 grit and wipe with acetone. Wally World has some "textured" paint in rust oleum brand. Aluminum won't rust but does oxidize if not coated or anodized. Or you could acid etch them, then zinc chromate primer and then paint with PPG Concept linear polyurethane but that is a huge project. (I do sailboat masts and booms that way) I think the silver ones are anodized and should stay looking good longer. I know you are going for the "stealth" look, right? ha ha

Re: WTT: Bright crossbars for black crossbars
Whoa! I have no idea what most of that was. LOL. Last time I tried to paint a chair with spray paint came out with a bunch of drips dried onto it. Looked like crap, so I sanded them off and then tried a brush....looked even crappier! Wound up throwing out the chair and buying new ones. LOL...I suck.
I really NEED to trade or get new black ones (which if I could buy JUST the crossbars I would).
And yeah....am trying to become a HOABie. Stealth looks good.
