While taking care of some duck blind maintenance this past weekend, I was running my truck through some semi-muddy rice fields. I noticed that the truck had a tendency to slide out when I went to turn, more than I would expect given my past experiences with tires like the BFG Mud Terrains and Super Swampers. I was wondering if this had something to do with the tread pattern on the Grapplers, because there are no tread lugs running parallel to the circumference of the tire, just perpendicular.
Any comments?
Thanks,
Pete

Are you guys just snickering in the background, thinking that's what I get for running mud paddles?

No I was just trying to figure out what "duck blind maintenance" was.

Hey Pete!
You're probably right in your idea of not having a center tread pattern...but I do not know enough about it to be sure. Rodster just schooled me in tire size (converting to 315/70 to 35X12.50)

I thought you were joking. Rice fields in Texas? Really?
FWIW, I noticed that while driving at high speeds on loose sand/dirt/gravel my rear end breaks loose faster with the 37 Toyos. Until you posted this I thought I was imagining that or maybe driving more aggressively. To compound matters, thanks to the front end upgrade, now when I tell the truck to enter a curve it does so quickly. I think I was over-accelerating into the turn.
VT -- I didn’t school you, I Googled your question and only hope that online calculator wasn't a prank.

We have wooden portable duck blinds from which we hunt ducks and geese. We haul these out into the rice fields before duck season, and dress them with natural brush for better concealment.

Rod, yes, rice farming is very large-scale in southeast Texas (and southwest Louisiana).
