CV Joint failure
Has anyone suffered from the front CV Joints starting to make fast popping noises when turning. it sounds like maybe a carrier cracked or broken. Do the 35" toyos affect the warranty on that type of stuff. I have 32,000 miles on the truck.

I had my carrier bracket bushings replaced not too long ago. But the noise was my driveline slamming into gear as the front diff was being moved up
Does it do it all the time or just in the AM? Did you check your boots?

Re: CV Joint failure
Interesting comment about in the AM. Yes, it only seems to do it in the mornings when the truck is cold. Very pronounced when turning, especially to the right. I thought it might be something to do with the truxxx level kit, so it took it off, lubed it again, re-levelled, but it is still there. I am convinced it is the CV joints. (OR possibly shocks). I do know it is frigging annoying..

That's exactly what mine was doing...only in the AM, and only when it was cold outside.
I know this sounds silly, but mine went away....on it's own.
Did you check your tires/wheels/brakes for rocks?

I don't know if this is your problem or not but there is an ongoing discussion about something similar to your problem here:

Hope this helps!

Re: CV Joint failure
WOW. This is a real problem. I am sooooooo glad that other people have the same problem, I thought it was just me being really picky. If anyone gets to the bottom of this, please post the results on the forum.

Re: CV Joint failure
I had my CV joint replaced last week, or maybe the week before, Wright kept my rig for 2 1/2 weeks.
Manager said that the damage was in the grey area ( meaning warranty coverage was questionable ) but replaced it without charging me. When I got to the dealership, I inspected the area around the CV joint, and found no damage anywhere.
With the CV sitting up so high above everything else in that area, surely something else would have been damaged?
Mine was grinding, metal to metal and the boot was split in two. It looked to me that the boot failed and dirt/sand got into the CV causing it to fail.
As the grease warms up, it is spread more evenly through the joint. When cold it is sat in one area. So the grinding your hearing might be the begining stages of the joint failing.
I am not a pro though, and your service manager has had lots of training.
However I have more common sense than the last service manager I dealt with.

Re: CV Joint failure
If you are still having this failure with these joints, please let me know. I am an engineer at RCV Performance Products ( we make custom driveline components). If someone was willing to send me one OEM joint, I could definately make some higher strength joints for the market!
