I have cloth seats and my wife (seven months pregnant at the time) and I took a road trip six hours up and six hours back and both of us found it very confortable.

I went to my salesman and we took it over to the service dept.
The service manager says its "wear and tear". Not covered under warranty. I called bs as did my sales person.
Unfortunately neither of us got anywhere. He suggested I call the 1-800 number.
It just seems too soon for the seat to fray up from hopping in and out of the car.
Anyone else see this happening?

That's BS. Wear items are things like the brakes, not seat material. If you are within the 12/12 they should repair it at no charge. Yes call the 800 number and bitch!

You might want to check these out:
http://www.brookstone.com/shop/thumbnail.asp?world_code...o%20Accessories*Seat
I use the one on page 2 that costs $30.
I use it for my cloth seats H3 and I love it. I bought it so I could sit higher in the seat (since they didn't build cloth w/power adjustments for some stupid reason!) but it is very comfortable (and I have a bad disc in my lower back). I drove 17 hours straight from ATL to Minneapolis and was never uncomfortable.

Re: H3 seats
I ordered my H3 with cloth and the dealer (Weselhof) convinced me to upgrade to custom aftermarket leather. I had it upgraded before I even took delivery and they did an excellent job. The leather they installed looks great and is much thicker and softer than what the Hummer leather package comes with.
I immediately drove it from San Juan Capistrano to Cabo San Lucas - 1,100 miles in 2 days.
I broke a vertabrae 15 years ago and have had back trouble ever since, but these seats are super comfy and the lumbar adjustment lets me change support and angles a little every so often on long drives. That seems to help. So, maybe the trouble is your back, not the seat.

This advise is for both leather & cloth:
I learned a long time ago (in the 70's) when I stop the car/truck to get out I pull the seat (power or manual) all the way BACK & raise the tilt wheel. This let you manuver your body getting out with the ability to rise from your seat therefore reducing excesive ware on the left bolster (where your left upper leg & thigh rub) and it also reduces the ware right where your butt sits, rotating on the seat of your pants or dress. This only takes a few seconds to do but it will add lots of life to your seats...

Re: H3 seats
I must say I find the H3 seats a bit hard compared to the H2. However, and this is totally irrelevant, but the new Escalade seats are very comfy.

Re: H3 seats
Happy pre-ending on my seats:
So the fraying on the drivers seat... My sales guy took the fight to the next guy up the ladder at the dealership...
I get a phone call and a meeting... Currently I am driving a loaner H3 while they fix the seat
I never did get to the 1-800 number. Good follow-up goes so far with car sales.
