Has any one tried the "CarChip" data logger on the H3? I did! It seemed to work fine, except for the fact that it would cause the computer to reboot, (not my PC, but the one in the vehicle) it would go to POST. I would have to pull over and remove the key and restart.
I was wondering if I just had a bad chip or is it not compatiable. I know there is a "Black Box" somewhere, but I dont know if you can access the info with a PC. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Are you talking about the "black box" that records your engine rpm, vehicle speed, brake pedal input, seat belt usage input, throttle position, etc.? If so, it is silver with a yellow sticker; not black.
It is called the sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) and is the airbag system controller.
You cannot access the information contained in the SDM without paying about 5K for the two software packages required.
One software downloads the HEX file, the other translates it. Dealers cannot access it with the Tech 2.
As for your CarChip...aftermarket...I have nothing to add.
