Default Tire pressure sensor in 2008's

Has anyone had their 08 in cold weather yet?

I noticed that the TPM in the rig seem to be possessed. I checked the pressure and have all 4 tires set at 42PSI did this last week. Several times in the past few days I've gotten a message on the DIC saying to check the pressure in one of the tires. It is telling me the pressue is 63PSI! I verified with my gauge its 42 pounds.

Are these TPM's quirky or could I have a bad one?

Mine seem to be the opposite. I got mine aired at 42 and they tell me one is low at 37 psi but ok when I check them. Mine seems to idle kind of rough and the oil pressure is at 20 when idle and 40 while driving. Other than that I love my 08. Its a sure lot better than my 03 was. Just got a hair over 750 miles and adv mpg is 14.4.

I wonder if this is normal on the TPMS or if I have a bad one. I've had mine show low too when its cold, but I seem to recall something in the manual about the cold weather and the TPMS.

Mine doesnt seem to idle rough as much as when I first got it. I've got about 2K miles on it now. My mileage is 10.9 right now, but I do mostly short, in town runs. My office is only about a mile from my home.

I agree with you...I love the 08...my 06 was a great machine, but the 08 blows it away.

My TPM is all over the place. since the cold weather it shows low pressure readings on all tires. The DIC just keeps showing low pressure warnings on all the tires. I of course have them inflated to proper levels. They should have filled the tires with nitrogen at the factory, or wrote a better program for the ecm to factor in cold weather changes. I just ignore it.

Depending on how much the temp is changing where you live pressures can vary up to 5-10 psi on that size of tire once the tires are warmed up. Try setting them at 42 cold, increased pressure wont turn the light on as they are looking for low tire pressure as long as they all increase even. If it is telling you one tire is way more inflated but they all read the same on a gauge, the sensor that is reading high is fubar and needs to be replaced. Hopefully these systems get better with time cause all vehicles will have them soon.

Humtech...thanks for the info. I'll keep an eye on that sensor thats throwing the high pressure warning. If it keeps throwing the warning, I'll take it back to Cochran Hummer and have them replace it. Hope all is well with you!

Mike

I have the TPMS in my Acura and it throws a message when it started getting really cold here, I adjusted the cold pressure a bit and all seems well now. I have however experienced weird readings over the years with different cars I have owned with this feature.

I just re-verified the wheel that is saying I have 68PSI in the tire and its right on at 42. I am just wondering if I should let the dealer fix it or just forget about it.
