Back Eye Camera for AVN 6600 problem
I just had this installed, and I believe a couple of people on here have this as well. When you put it in Reverse, the camera is supposed to automatically show up on the display, however mine does not do this.
When looking at the installation instructions, it does not mention doing anything special to have this feature, other than simply hooking it up to the back of the AVN6600
The only way I can get it on the display is to manually select the camera input. The setting, BTW, is on "Automatic" and not "Manual" in the overall settings for the camera.
Any ideas?

Re: Back Eye Camera for AVN 6600 problem
Figured as much
Do you know where the problem might be? Is there another connection outside of the back of the AVN Camera Slot?
I know some other brand back eye cameras have to be hooked up to the Reverse sensor, but the installation instructions for this camera didn't elude to anything like that, but it did say "Step 2. Put the vehicle in R to show camera on display" like it was supposed to automatically do it. So from the instructions it seems to just be hooked to the back of the AVN and then call it a day

Check to make sure the headunit is properly hooked up to the reverse wire.

I don't believe it is. The installer said that other cameras you're supposed to hook it up to the reverse wire but the instructions on this didn't say to do that. I bet that they are all pretty much the same.
Tim, do you know about if this unit and camera needs to be hooked up to the reverse wire?

Re: Back Eye Camera for AVN 6600 problem
Well it needs to be. The reverse wire doesn't need to be hooked up directly to certain cameras, these including yours and the pioneer nd-bc1 that I know of. The headunit controls when to turn it on and all, not the camera.
With the headunit settings on automatic rear cam, it looks for the reverse wire signal that's coming directly into the headunit, then it switches the view when it sees it.
I'm not sure because I have a pioneer, but you probably have a system details screen on your headunit that will show you all the connections and their status. It should have the reverse wire status, put it in reverse, if the status doesn't change...that's your problem.

Re: Back Eye Camera for AVN 6600 problem
Just checked the system settings, and you're right, it doesn't change when I put it in reverse. Now I know what to tell my installers on how to fix it. I'll put more info in here when I get it. Thanks!

Re: Back Eye Camera for AVN 6600 problem
Go back to your installer and tell them to hook up the green wire on the 6600 to reverse signal (I believe it is also a lt green at the bcm, but need to check notes to be sure). The camera does not need any external wiring on its own as it is just a slave to the head unit and plugs right in.
