Default Front axle leak by CV joint

I have a '08 H3 with 42k miles and I just noticed a leak from what it looks like the seal in between the half shaft and output shaft. It is not leaking much but enough to collect dust. Does anybody know what the name of the actual seal in that area is, if its a major problem, have had this issue before, or if it should be covered under warranty? Thanks!

Exclamation Re: Front axle leak by CV joint

I have 0ne of the first 06's (built in 05). It is a daily driver with only 35,800 mls. on it. My front axle seal started leaking over the summer as evident by a n oil stain on the garage floor.... I just took it to my local garage and they replaced the seal which cost around $29.00 ..... Total repair price was $230.00 and was completed in about 4 hrs.....YOU should be COVERED under warranty though....Hope I helped, T. J.
