Cutting grass
What height do you cut your grass?
Right now I'm cutting at 5" because there's so much new grass growing, and I'll probably keep doing it at that height throughout spring, but what about the summer? Maybe 4"?
I kinda' like the looks at 5", tho.

Re: Cutting grass
I took the blade off my mower, and re-routed the muffler through the mower deck, aimed directly at the ground. Over-filling the crankcase with 80-wt gear oil provides copious amounts of smoke and oil spit, which kills the grass. Though not absolutely necessary, I run over the entire lawn a couple times a week just to keep things in check.

Re: Cutting grass
Hummm, hadn't thought of that, but... I have some bad gas in a jug in the shed. I could put it in a sprayer and eliminate some work for awhile.
Thanks for jarring my brain into gear.

Re: Cutting grass
There are so many great uses for bad gas. I like to pour it into the storm sewer, as it helps dilute the old oil, ATF, and antifreeze for better flow.

Re: Cutting grass
This reminds me of a sort of snow blower I made. Instead of wasting gas pouring it in tank of blower, you have a hose fixed to bottom of gas can and tie hose to a 4' piece of pipe with several small holes drilled in it. You set everything on a small sled or toboggan and pull up and down driveway. When can is empty step back and light it and your snow disappears. Feel free to use this idea as I haven't patented it yet.

Re: Cutting grass
I see you guys are still doing it wrong. I have my wife convinced that mowing the grass is great exercise and that she is very good at it. I just keep her 50" Gravely walk behind running like a top and I never have to touch the stuff... she gets it done in around 6 hours.
Plus I have a stand for her to wash out the deck when she gets done.
