How is the factory alarm system. is it any good? So far I hadn't have to worry about anything but I'm sure I will depend on that alarm system sometime when some jerk thinks he wants a new ride.

I wasnt impressed so I opted for an aftermarket unit (Viper 5000). I asked the dealer about an add-on enhancement for the factory unit and all they had was a remote start.

The factory unit does not have any shock sensors. Unless a thief opens a door you won't get an avtivation.

well, i got broken into, they knocked in the keylocks from the outside ( screwdriver? ), from what i heard/read after it had happened, if you break in that way, the alarm doesnt get triggered....quality system, I know...another reason why I added on the add'l security/remote start system.

I got it done just North of Syracuse, NY, great shop and a good price, if anyone is interested. It's run by my buddies Uncle, the shop constantly wins awards for 'Audio' tournaments ( not sure of specifics, but I can find out if anyone wants... )

I was told by the cops investigating my last break-in that all thieves know that on a GM you just pry the top of the door and use a two by four to get the door open enough to unlock the door. Alarm wont sound. In my case the first time they tried this they could not pry the door enough so they just broke the front window. Second time they did not bother with prying and just broke the back window. That is why I am looking for the best aftermarket alarm.
