I know it's not a real good pic but notice the roof? I happened to walk into the Hummer dealer today and they had just put on the shelf this 2006 front light bar.
Since it's a 2006, the connecting wire harness doesn't come with the bar, it only comes with a new 2006 H2. (of course, I'll change connectors and make my own harness)
Anyway, I know the pic ain't good but here it is.

Hey, that's cheating. It's not a mod if it doesn't work.

Ohhhh, it will by this evening... (Sat) LOL.
I picked it up about 5pm Friday night, by the time I got back to the shop, it was only a matter of minutes before it was installed. If it hadn't been such a long week and I wanted to go home, I would have stayed and wired it. (besides, gotta pull the Eclipse Saturday to rewire the cameras... may as well do it then)

OrangeCrush - Do you know of a place to buy the stock harness? I was told GM doesn't sell it seperately.

That's the point... there is no wiring harness available. The wiring harness for the lightbar is part of the factory harness.
I don't mean it's a factory harness, I mean it's PART of the whole wiring harness for the dash.... that's why I just hardwired it.

You have a couple of wires coming out close to the end of the bar. They have a factory end on them. I just cut the end off and soldered them onto a few extensions.

Bare with me as I'm not too keen on this. The round roof off-road lights kit comes with the harness to install. Wiring that comes down the headliner down the left pillar and connects to the fuse box. The low-profile version does not come with the harness but connects to exisitng wiring? Please clarify on what is needed to install the lights for the H2 that did not have a factory off-road light. Thank you, sorry for the low learning curve on this topic.

No problem... I'll try this again.
(at least for the '06) The light bar has a small wiring harness in it. It protrudes from one end of the bar approx. 6"
You are suppose to plug that 6" protrusion harness into a factory harness that is already inside the "A" pillar (left windshield post)
The problem is that harness that is "inside" the windshield post is ONLY available as part of the main wiring harness (eg. you can't buy it separately) and ONLY on the '06's
Soooo, I just cut the factory end off of the 6' harness sticking out of the light bar, soldered some wires onto it ran my own wires into the windshield post.

Did it look like a standard headlight harness? I would think it is the same as what I have - older style light bar.

Can't remember, tossed it away... but if you need to know, I can take a pic of one at the dealer. I think I saw a new bar sitting on the shelf.

Rocket,
It would actually be easy. Once you mount the bar, you only have two wires to hook up.
A power wire which would go to the hot wire for the reverse lamps and a ground wire.
That way, it would automatically come on when in reverse.
However, I would think there would be times when you wouldn't want those lights on just because you have the truck in reverse.

If there was in the pillar, how could you hook them together?
My '06 does not have a wire harness in the left pillar. Are you sure it was not to run all the way down the pillar and into that little box(with cover) under the dash?
I would think there should have been some kind of extension harness to plug the lightbar in under the dash, even for an '06 model.

OrangeCrush,
Thanks for taking the time to explain. My 2005 doesn't have any wiring harness on the left pillar. I was told by the GM parts guy that the H2 must be equiped with "USD option"...(don't know what that is) to hook the lights up. I like to install the lights but it appears to be too difficult because it doesn't come with necessary items to be a "plug & play". You might have to give us guys, especially me, who don't know much about electrical work on the "how to" step by step instruction. Did you also make your own switch? Delta light 10x would be nice but it has too many lights for my needs. The factory low-profile 4 lights would be perfect for what I need it for. Thanks again.

Tomp,
I didn't say that the plug for the light bar was in the "A" pillar, all I was saying is that there is suppose to be a plug for the lightbar to be able to be plugged in to.
I wouldn't doubt that there may be an extension but the point is, (factory option or not) it only comes on the '06's.
Sportsdude,
You're taking this to be harder than it is. It's real simple. You have two wires coming off the lightbar.
One is for power, one is ground.
It comes with a tiny switch which I mounted under the factory headlamp switch.
If you're still not sure, I would think that a stereo shop would run the wires for you for less than 50-60 bucks. (definitely less than a hundred)
It took me about an hour to wire it, solder, heat shrink tube it and tuck my wires where I wanted.
I'm with you about the 10x setup. That was the one I originally wanted but the 4 light setup suits my needs better.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
If I have to go so far as to go back to the dealer and take pics of a lightbar (providing they still have one in stock) I will.
HTH's,
Mark

How much did you pay for the bar if you don't mind me asking...
