Removing A Pillar

Ok guys or gals I need some assistance.. How do you take off the drivers side a-pillar ( think thats the right term for the trim piece from the dash up to the headliner).. I need to run wires for additional red and blues on the roof rack.

PS. got some great ideas as to where to put a couple of the needed switches withour whoring up the interiors look. Thanks again for a great site.

I have not done it, but I believe you remove the two plugs on the grab handle, remove handle and the trim should pull off. You may not need to remove the screws completely. Check after loosening them to see if there is enough slack in the trim to fish them behind it.

Also, I believe if you do a search on the roof mounted lights you will find that wires can be fished down through the top drivers' side driving lamp after removing it. There is a hole there.

Thanks for info..I will check it out this Sunday am when I have a couple hours . I need to run enough wires for driving lights and strobes..

KenP is right. I took the trim off the pillar when I installed my back-up camera. Just pry out the two plugs and the handel will come off. The trim panel then pulls right off.

I used a wire fish on mine when I ran some extra wires to the over head console. I just dident want to scratch up any of the plastic pillar cover or handle. BIG-C

Ken P is 100% right, as are all the others. The roof liner will also come down if you pull/wiggle the visor down out of it's socket....that would be necessary only if you will be running wires for a switch to the OH console. I placed my switches on the left front dash just to the lower right of the air duct. Great/easy access for wiring and turning on/off both sets of my off-road lights. Check out some of the other threads.

Be sure you seal the hole in the roof very well!!!

Thanks for the info.. I really need to find locations for 1 @ front drive lights, 1 @ rear drive lightd, 1 for overhead front strobes , 1 @ the back strobes, 1 @ siren. with new math that is 5 switches.. Right now I have my strobes and siren in an aftermarket box velcro to the lower dash for my grill and rear bumber lights.. ( it looks like poop).

So how do I remove the overhead console in order to drill for the new switches. I have the small console w/sunroof.

I take it your in law enforcement. Are you modifing your personal H2 to accept lights and siren or is this H2 owned by your employer (police department)?

There is room for numerous switches where I previously mentioned and much easier to install than anywhere else and easy access for use. See pic.

Yes I am an officer.( Part time now.. to damn old to do all the time).. I also own a Gunshop and range in Indy. The H2 is my personal vec.. The red/blues are for occasional use.. I'm not going to do a chase in it if i can help it.. Most of the time it is for accident scenes.. or when involed in K-9 search and rescue.

Thanks for all the ideas.. I have many friends who are ready to start cutting on my H2.. unfortunately they do not have clue what they are doing.. Don't mind if they cut on a Crown Vic.. just not my H2.
