Did the jumper thing and that's great. Can anybody give me a p/n for a DRL lamp replacement that will be cool white, doesn't require alterations, and won't burn up the housing/reflector. Lot's of posts on this and I'm a bit confussed.

DiceMan:

Any lamp replacement in the existing fixture will cause meltdown, even the existing 17W bulb degrades the cheap factory fixture. GM should recall and replace this fixture with a real one!

I agree, GM should recall these and replace them with real ones!

I've had my DRLs fixed once already because of melting. The dealer replaced them (housing and lamp assembly), but said that it was the same exact part, no changes, so it's just going to end up happening again.

GM probably figures that by the time most people notice their melting DRLs, their H2's will already be out of warranty.

I changed my DRL's for Hummer Solutions' DRL exchange kit and I'm very happy w/m, especially after mounting Hi-Tech Custom Concepts' Chrome DRL Louver Kit in front of 'm. Really neat. Too bad GM won't compensate for this "extra", which should have been there in the 1st place!

One other solution is the SMA Replacement Valance for use with PIAA 520 lights. http://www.smahummer.com/detail.jsp?cid=8&pid=795 The only problem is that you need to either buy SMA's Heavy Duty Brush Guard or modify the Valance.
