I plan to buy a h2 in the next few months. I want a mint 2003 with max 35,000 miles at $34,000 max. I know this is a tight price for this low of mileage, but they are out there. Obviously, I want as many add-ons as possible (extra chrome, dvd, tire rack on tail gate, 3rd row seat, etc) though these are not crucial to my purchase decision.

I am not too familiar with the different stock options and models that are available. I believe there is a lux version - what does this have extra over a stock unit. What other versions were available in 2003 and what they they include? Which version(s) had the moon roof?

When shopping for one of these, is there anything I should check over extra carefully? In another words, are there problems these Hummers are notorious for that I should examine extra close?

Thanks

I'm about to trade my mint condition 2003. It has 36,000 miles and the dealer is giving me 38,500 for it. They'll probably sell it for $39,500.

My 2003 is one of the first Hummer's sent to Southern California. We bought the 11th Hummer out of the West Covina dealership. I guess the first batch wasn't very good, because my car has had a continuous leak problem (water coming into the car under the carpet when it rains). After the 6th repair attempt, it still leaks.

Watch out for leaks, for one thing.

Open the door and look at the production date if that bothers you. I've had two H2's and one was built in 2002 and the other in 2003. Both are rock solid reliable.

Mine was built in 2002, rock solid, no leaks. Now that I think about it, no major problems at all. The metallic looking paint came off the interior door handle and they swapped the door plastic for me, that's about it.

You might find one like you want at the price you want, but I seriously doubt it. For that price you're looking at one with at least 50,000 miles on it and limited options.

Good Luck!

Here is a link to a site with more great links. I think this site belongs to someone on this forum. It should answer some of your questions.
